Nice to see Pillar batting 7th instead of 9th. You gotta hand it to Sargent Skidmarks, he doesn't do dumbassery half assed.
I still don't get why he didn't use Murphy in the 6th last night instead of Pillar to pinch hit, and then he used Wall later to hit for Pillar instead of Murphy--yeah, there was a RHP on the mound, but something tells me Murphy is still the guy you go to there over a guy who has 15 career MLB ABs. I guess Wall did well in the inter squad games, blaaaaaaaaaargh. Not to mention Murphy really needs ABs right now. There's just absolutely no rhyme or reason to any of Snitker's idiocy. He really has no clue how bad Pillar is with the bat.
When we didn't carry 3 catchers, the notion of using one of the catchers as a pinch-hitter went out the window. He might tonight in an elimination game, but not unless we are down 6 runs and it's the 9th inning.

Jeff Passan @jeffpassan · 14h This October, by regular-season wins: 104: Atlanta, down 2-1 in NLDS 101: Baltimore, swept in ALDS 100: Los Angeles, swept in NLDS 99: Tampa Bay, swept in wild card 92: Milwaukee, swept in wild card 90: Houston, Texas in ALCS; Philadelphia one win from NLCS 84: Arizona in NLCS Playoffs are a crapshoot, always have been. Anyone can win any short series at any point in the season or playoffs. Braves and Dodgers dominated their divisions. Got to find some way to reward the teams that have prevailed all season or there will be no point in even trying to win a division.

David O'Brien @dobrienatl · 1h After that second Harper stare down last night, I bet a few Braves fans would’ve like to see Brian McCann waiting in front of the plate. The stare down was in response to Arcia's idiotic and ill advised comment. Guy's hitting .181 with 2 hits and 4 k's. Shouldn't be running his mouth. As if the Phils need anymore motivation. Smh...

Got to find some way to reward the teams that have prevailed all season or there will be no point in even trying to win a division. In the current idiotic 5 game set up, the only way is to heavily weigh playoff home games in the division leaders favor. One more home game presently can't offset an 84 win team's insane momentum that can happen. In the best of 5 the division leader gets 4 home games. 2-1-2... If the wild card team can incredibly survive that, then the nlcs would revert to proper seeding where the better win total team gets game 7.

I like the 2-1-2 format. I'd leave the WC round alone. I'd also like to see the first team to 3 wins scenario where the division winner starts out with 1 game in the bank already. Why should a whole 162 games season go down the tubes based on one short series. If you win your division you deserve a bigger advantage in the NLDS round. If a wild card or lowest division winner wants to advance then make it tougher. If a wild card winner or lowest division winner survives then the traditional 7 game format would be fine as it's a bit more representative and good teams can survive short slumps and still win. We're making winning a division almost irrelevant, especially with a nearly week layoff.

Ya know what, I have to confess I underestimated Snitker's ignorance, something I didn't think was possible, but I've been assuming we had Tromp on the roster because........that's what you do when you have the ability to use one of your catchers as a pinch hitter. DOH!

I mentioned the other day the wild card series should have all been scheduled for Monday through Wednesday with the division series all starting on Thursday. The Faillies got to play 3 games in 7 days, thereby continuing to play some meaningful games instead of just sitting around, and they got some rest, AND they got to set up their pitching for our series to use theirs two aces for 4 of the 5 games. No way in hell the wild card team should gain such an advantage, that's asinine.

Mark Bowman @mlbbowman · 5h Strider is the perfect guy to send to the mound as the Braves attempt to prove they can be “those MFers” again

Not a good start. He's throwing strikes and we look off balance. Pittsburgh scored 6 on this guy and the Mets 4 before he shut us down. Why can't we hit this guy. Geesh.

We look off balance because it looks like we are looking fastball bit swinging at every curve. If we were going to swing at all the curves you think we would wait on it and not be so far out in front if it.
