As frustrating as this yr has been I will take it over those rebuild yrs
Still have a nucleus to build around, keep Freddie and get Acuna right and the pen cannot possibly be this bad in future yrs
Those rebuild yrs were horrible.

I expect to see Maxwell’s silver hammer come down on our heads in these 5 games in NY. M Call it a mercy kill. Even if the Mets go 3-2 or we do, there will be people who think we are still in it. Either 5-0, 4-1, 1-4, or 0-5 for me, please. No more of this mediocrity. I agree. I never root against us but I fully believe it would be in our best interest to lose either 4 or 5 of these games. If we found a way to hang on and squeak into the playoffs we'd get slaughtered in the first round. I've had enough of that. I'd rather just concede that this is not our year and do what we can to make ourselves better for next year.

One thought is that this can be turned around quickly, look where the Red Sox and Giants were last yr and where they are now.
My thoughts is this can be done here for next yr. Our luck cannot be as bad in the future - the list is long and known on the adversities this Braves team has had. Its not an excuse for not being successful, but its good understandable reasons.
And as I can reiterate - no one could have predicted the pen would be this bad, even if we looked like there was some RH questions, did anyone think it would be this bad?
Not to mention the saga of Mister Unmentionable - who woulda thunk that?
Next - long list of injuries. The future should be better even in the near timeframe.

Padres acquire a really good bat from the Pirates:
Jeff Passan @jeffpassan The San Diego Padres are acquiring second baseman/outfielder Adam Frazier from the Pittsburgh Pirates, sources tell ESPN.
Frazier, 29, leads baseball in hits this year and is not a free agent until after the 2022 season. One of the best bats on the trade market.

We suck, just split with these Phillies Again, we don't get to .500 Frustrating team. AA, get us BULLPEN help PS We have enough catchers We need one of Haniger or Gallo and Marte. Also at least one good bullpen arm. If we don't get that we will probably hang around .500. If we do we can win the division and compete in the playoffs. Marte just turned down a decent extension from the Marlins.......

I don't care if we got slaughtered in the 1st round of the playoffs... Playoffs are still playoffs and are better than no playoffs.
I just think knowing this isn't our year, I wouldn't want us to do something that hurt us in 2022 or the next 3-5 years in an attempt to get there in 2021.

I just think knowing this isn't our year, I wouldn't want us to do something that hurt us in 2022 or the next 3-5 years in an attempt to get there in 2021. A big IF though is IF we could squeak in. We could go ahead and do a lot to try to salvage this season and still not make it. The only reason we would is if the Mets fold. It seems like their pitching is too good for that to happen. I wouldn't want to make a foolish run at things this season and hang onto everybody and then still not make it. I'm not going to root for the Mets to beat us by any means this week, but like I said I feel like we'll be better off down the road if they whip us and we sell everything we can. And I do feel like we could be contenders again as early as next season--that may be a stretch because it would probably depend on the status of Acuna and Soroka, but I don't think it's out of the question. And anything we can sell off at the deadline to help us in any way for the future is a good thing.

Just trading Morton at the deadline alone would make us a better team next year. It might not be drastic, but we could surely get a player who will actually be able to help us next year and maybe beyond. And we could re-sign Morton in the offseason if we wanted to.

That player they could get hopefully will be major league ready. I do not want a quantity of stuff struggling in low A ball that is light years from the show if they ever get there. One MLB ready player is better than two or three guys in A ball outside of a team's top 30 Got to keep an open mind though. Sure would like to re-sign Morton for two years, he looks like he has that much left. Smyly just even might bring in a return too. He has been as good as he ever has been since the early part of his career. The Smyly sign is better than it seemed early on. Hope the knee is all right. Most questioned that sign (me too) but as it turned out AA was more right on that sign then wrong. SP is not cheap - 11 mil still seems high but - he has had his good stretches The one sellable assett I do not want to move on from under nearly any circumstances is Freeman for obvious reasons
