*** WEATHER UPDATE*** METMAN WEATHER SERVICES 19 July 2021 4:30 PM EDT Atlanta Metro Area BRAVES GAME FORECAST (7:20 PM) Game Time Forecast: Mostly cloudy and humid with showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures in the low to mid 70's dropping to the low 70's by 11PM. Winds SSE at 4-8 MPH G13. Max gust tonight is 21 MPH. Models picking up on varying rainfall totals from showers and thunderstorms this evening. Consensus seems to be in the .25-.5" range but anywhere from 0.1" to 1" or more is possible depending on where the most activity generates. High resolution models have been consistent with some heavier rainfall after 9 PM. With abundant moisture in place, a disturbance moving eastward along a stationary front to the north will provide the impetus for the showers and thunderstorms. Severe indices aren't overly impressive but a few severe storms could arise, especially in central GA where indices are a bit more favorable. Looking at vertical profiles, there is a slight chance that a Mesoscale Convective System (MCS) could develop early this evening and subsequently a Mesoscale Convective Complex (MCC) could also form later in the evening and overnight. This would further enhance precipitation totals. All in all doesn't look good and we may have to dodge a lot of raindrops to get this one in. Let's hope we escape because I hate 7 inning doubleheaders and tomorrow is also questionable. -PA GO BRAVES!!! I read 2-3 inches of rain tonight, hopefully after the game....... I would not be surprised to see areas of 2-3" or more given the deep layer of moisture and future expected dynamics, especially if any type of lingering mesoscale convective system lingers through the night. Generally, I think 0.5-1.5" will be more common but areas of 2"+ are certainly in the cards tonight. The remnants of a MCS can also provide the favorable conditions for showers and thunderstorm activity the following day.

David O'Brien @dobrienatl I hadn't thought about this until now: In the past nine months, the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta United all fired their head coaches. We got the hat trick. Let's go for the golden sombrero!

Game postponed. DH Wednesday. Not surprising at all considering what is coming. Probably couldn't have completed the game and may have had long delays just trying to make it an official game.

At least the pen can’t blow it tonight I'm pretty sure our pen could walk 2 and give up a 3 run homer to a mudpuddle.

I came here for good news and all I hear is the stadium might be washed away from all the rain. And to make matters worse, I'm driving up from Daytona to see the game on Wed. and I hear Touki is going to start game one?! I didn't even know Touki was still on the team. He'll be a project for the Braves for 15 years before we get rid of him for some baseline chalk. The things we suffer through as Braves fans.

Southern Atlanta metro area is getting hammered. On the other hand Marietta has less than 0.1". Go figure! Postponing was still the right move IMO.

The Smyrna area was one of the lower totals. Most of the heavier rain all went just to the S and E of Atlanta. An area from north Atlanta from Kennesaw east to Lawrenceville was only 0.1"-0.5". Then another swath of 2-3"+ farther north from Canton to N, NE and E of Gainesville. Impossible to know exactly where those heavier bands would occur.
