Before we lose/dump too many of our young pitching prospects I'd like to see us completely clean house from top to bottom anybody involved in coaching pitching and bring in new faces. It's become such a problem I can't help but feel like it's at least as much their fault as it is the players if not more.

Seriously? They called him up to take Minter's spot? Unbelievable Highly predicable. At least Snit now has his lefty that he can turn to in high pressure situations - lol Newcomb only walked 1 in 4 innings at Gwinnett, so it is now assumed he has worked out his control issues and is ready to go, lol What happened to Grant Dayton? We haven't tried him in awhile.. is he still on the DL?

I agree... most of the time, sketchy control is either mechanical or overthrowing. Both of those issues are things that should be able to be worked on. I would love to have the ability to go back to 2020 good Minter and see if he has dropped his arm angle in 2021. If his arm angle has dropped then his crossfire delivery fastball will sail and remain flat. With Newk, it's always been release point. The frustrating thing there is we have seen extended periods back in 2018 and 19 where he had much better control. Kranitz joined the Braves in 2019, so it seems the more time with him correlates with worse performance, but correlation does not always equal causation... but still..

Even though Kranitz hasn't been around forever, it begins to smell like a rat when so many of the young pitchers have pretty much the same problem. It's a lot easier to dump Kranitz and try someone else than to replace our entire pitching prospect list.

*** WEATHER UPDATE*** METMAN WEATHER SERVICES 19 July 2021 4:30 PM EDT Atlanta Metro Area BRAVES GAME FORECAST (7:20 PM)
Game Time Forecast: Mostly cloudy and humid with showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures in the low to mid 70's dropping to the low 70's by 11PM. Winds SSE at 4-8 MPH G13. Max gust tonight is 21 MPH. Models picking up on varying rainfall totals from showers and thunderstorms this evening. Consensus seems to be in the .25-.5" range but anywhere from 0.1" to 1" or more is possible depending on where the most activity generates. High resolution models have been consistent with some heavier rainfall after 9 PM. With abundant moisture in place, a disturbance moving eastward along a stationary front to the north will provide the impetus for the showers and thunderstorms. Severe indices aren't overly impressive but a few severe storms could arise, especially in central GA where indices are a bit more favorable. Looking at vertical profiles, there is a slight chance that a Mesoscale Convective System (MCS) could develop early this evening and subsequently a Mesoscale Convective Complex (MCC) could also form later in the evening and overnight. This would further enhance precipitation totals. All in all doesn't look good and we may have to dodge a lot of raindrops to get this one in. Let's hope we escape because I hate 7 inning doubleheaders and tomorrow is also questionable.
-PA GO BRAVES!!!

I knew instinctively that he was no good based on that fact alone. Baseball is far too incestuous, and he's a prime example of that. I personally think Tom Glavine would make a great pitching coach. Maybe I'm wrong.

I have been saying the same thing lately, that is a fair assessment I hope that AA recognizes that as a problem. What is there to lose in bringing in new faces in overall player development. Of course if that problem is not recognized well, more of the same.

We've had over 9" of rain here in south central PA so far in July. Just had 1.7" on Saturday and another 0.7" today. Mushrooms are growing everywhere!

If this game gets underway, it could be rain shortened or rain delayed for hours. It's important to get runs early, just in case.
I would be very surprised if this game isn't delayed at some point. It wouldn't surprise me if the delay is significant either. A postponement is also possible.

David O'Brien @dobrienatl I hadn't thought about this until now: In the past nine months, the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta United all fired their head coaches.
