Reds announcers said tonight that this was going to be a "get well weekend."
When you're watching a wreck start, it's really easy to see what the end result is going to be. We’ve been slipping and sliding trying to save it, but if Acuna goes down for even just two weeks we’re going right over the side of a straight down cliff.
You know it's bad when other teams look at you as a time to "get well". They have every right to as we are a sub .500 team playing of the road. We're now looked at as an easier part of the schedule by other teams. I'm sure they think 3 out of 4 for them is a must. They will be disappointed with a split.

I think the frustration with a guy like Acuña is born from those select moments when he goes completely brain dead, and he can be pretty streaky as well.
He's way down the list of worries though, but him and Albies both sometimes do the brain dead thing at the absolute worst possible rally/game killing moments.

I don't know what's going on with Ball. Didn't we have a guy named Harris that people were really high on? I only know they aren't with Gwinnett yet.
Just looked them up, Harris is having a bad year with Mississippi and Ball is having a bad year at high-A ball.
My plan for moving Dansby included moving Freddie too. So we could use his money elsewhere. Trevor Story is a FA after this year, he's 28, it would be nice to add him. Or Andrelton, he's a FA too!
I didn't mention Simmons because I didn't know the situation that he left under. Might be a little bad blood there. As for Story his stats are going down a little even in that hitters mecca. Also, his home/road splits are huge this year. .315/.878 at home and .186/.647 away. Career he's about a .760 OPS guy away from Coors. I'm not saying he's a mediocre player because he's a top 5 SS. Not so sure I would spend huge bucks there though and I believe he'll get huge bucks. My guess is 5 years in the $25-28M/yr vicinity, especially the high end if it's the Yankees. I expect the Yankees to make a move for him before the deadline. One of the reasons I thought he looked good is because I don’t think he’ll get crazy money. Even after all those monster seasons his last contract was 2 years for a total of $27.5M. I have idea what to guess he’ll now but it shouldn’t be crazy.

And I cuss both of them at times, but I have a hard time going overboard with because of their overall performance. One of problems is we’re all old timers and we remember when ball players kept their head in the game and paid for it by being taken out a game, or benched, or chewed out in the dugout where we could see it. Now ball players play stupid all the time and there’s no consequences. All teams do it we just do it a more because our guys know Papaw ain’t gonna say nuffin.

Stupidity is rampant in baseball these days. It ain't just the Braves. Fundamentals and the mental part of the game aren't taught.

Most teams play stupid baseball now, but not the Dodgers. They play smart. They make pitchers pitch. They're good on the bases and they play good defense. They're taught the proper way to play the game. It's the biggest thing that sets them apart. They have talent, of course, and they take advantage of their talent because they know how to play.
