Marte is a UFA after this season, no way I'm trading Wright for him.
I have no clue what it would take to get him but it shouldn't be that much, the Marlins didn't have to give up that much for him when they acquired him. We should have grabbed him then.
But he's a perfect fit now, just as he was before when I was championing the idea.
Look how much better we would have been in the playoffs last year with Marte in CF and the beater at DH, plus we wouldn't have had to sign the beater. AA screwed up big-time on that, and I must edit my previous response here, in that this is NOT my opinion, but a fact.

lulz @ giving up Wright and Shewmake for a 100 game rental in a lost season.
Westie would be the biggest dumpster fire of a GM in the history of baseball, and not by a slim magin!

The only problem with Marte is that he has had some injuries, but the dude can play.

If we are going to add an outfielder, I would rather go after a guy like Haniger.
Of course, if we don’t revamp the pen, it ain’t gonna matter.

Some good news from The Stripers
Best Striper news of all though, Bryse Wilson was sporting a buzz cut hairdo Wednesday night. w00t.
That’s great news, he was driving me crazier playing with the sticky stuff in his mullet so his spin rate was maximized. 🥎😇

Marte just said recently he’d prefer to stay in Miami, for whatever that’s worth.

I do not see any value in Wright and Shewmake so if we get a rental for them that is fine and dandy with me
We know about Wright's struggles and Shewmake well, he hits around half of the mendoza line. He was overdrafted anyway - projected as a UT kind of guy maybe a Charlie Culberson type.
The only thing they have of value is they were once first round picks who did not show much of anything - in Wright's case its pretty evident he is in probable bust territory.
On second thought I would not offer more than that for Marte though.
Note that Marte just might be a nice candidate for a short term deal for the Braves this off season. We will have to sign two bats - one for LF and likely 1B cause I am convinced that this management will let Freddie walk after this yr. Hate it but its the way I see it right now. Maybe a one yr stopgap like Mitch Moreland is the replacement for Freddie (yea I know it sucks but I cannot see optimism at this time) on that front.
If the Braves are serious about this yr we have to get another bat to replace Ozuna immediately cause Heredia and Almonte are stop gap back up types.

Those two former first rounders to me are dumpster fires - Wright and the 4 hits batsmen in his one start was enough for me The moment is too big for Wright and Shewmake, he had a low upside anyway. Never should have been a forst rounder

And the pen of course needs fixing though there are arms in there that do have ability. If they can find the plate. Sometimes we get the good AJ Minter, etc and Smith when he locates and is not Mr HR donor is very good when right I admit I do not know what to do but hell, got to do something or else

Marte just said recently he’d prefer to stay in Miami, for whatever that’s worth. The Marlins would be crazy not to trade him at the deadline, then they can re-sign him after the season. If he wants to stay there.
On one hand I'd kind of like to have him this year and then either 2 or 3 more seasons, but if he can sign with the Marlins for 4 or 5 years he'd probably rather do that. I would imagine he won't want to sign for less than 4 years anywhere unless he has no choice, this will pretty much be his last sizeable contract.

How many of you really care enough to try to salvage this season to maybe give up some prospect talent to get something that can help right now.
Do any of you really believe that the Amonte/Heredia mix and match is sufficient
What would you be willing to give up to get a Haniger or a Marte? As for prospects, you can't keep them all. And some do not make a difference.
Or, just hope for the best for right now and plan for next year and after.
I do not get why anyone would still be high on Wrght,
Shewmake, not alot of work in AA ball so maybe more patience is needed there
But Wright after what we have seen, my biggest guess is the MLB moment is too big for him
Anyway, maybe we can do some good things vs Miami. We could be teased with .500 again as has gone on all yr.
