4.73 ERA guy who's given up multiple leads in late tied games, prone to homers. Walks a guy in a tight game in the 9th. Then throws a hanging meatball with two outs. Good pitching wins that game. Will Smith did not pitch good. Regardless of the bases loaded blunder earlier in the game. That kind of pitch he gave up with 2 outs in a 9th inning one run game is inexcusable. What is sad is Tucker Davidson was denied his first major league win which he deserved thanks to Meatball Smith yup that really pisses me off.

The .500 wall is real. 8 pitches... should have used Martin for a 2nd inning. Yeah but you have to have an 8th inning pitcher guy and a 9th inning pitcher guy. It's the roolz. You can't think outside the box at all.

This was Smith's first blown save this year. Prior to this game we were 25-0 this year when leading after 8 innings.
It seems like there's no way either one of those is true but they are.

Meanwhile, Melancon is 19-2 in save opportunities with a 0.66 ERA. Fairly certain I was begging for the Braves to resign him and let Greene walk. Oh yeah, he only cost the Padres $3M ... What the hell AA ...

Well, stats definitely don't tell the story with this guy, because Will Smith sucks (did I mention that already?).

He's given up runs but we've been up by 2 or 3 instead of 1. He's been shaky as ----- all season. Rarely does he have a clean inning, and the propensity for the HR is insane.

What the hell AA ... We offered Melancon more money than SD. He signed with them anyway because he wanted to play back out west where he lives. We've already beaten this dead horse.

You can't think outside the box at all. I don't know if this is true but on the Phillies broadcast they said the Phillies were 1-25 when trailing entering the 9th inning and the Braves were 25-0. This doesn't seem possible reading the comments here after the game. As soon as he said it I told my wife that he just jinxed the game.

He does have 5 losses though so that tells me he hasn't blown saves, especially with more than a 1 run lead, but has given up runs when the game is tied and also runs when there is greater than a 1 run lead in a save situation. That explains the almost 5 ERA.

Martin should be the true closer. Dude throws strikes and gets outs. That’s what you want in your 9th inning guy.
