My recollection is the Braves were second guessed quite big for selecting Ian Anderson third over Riley Pint. The thoughts was that it was a money issue at the time Anyway, you just never know how the baseball draft works out. Worked out just fine for our guys. As for baseball being a cruel business, better term is such an intensely competitive physical business. And for pitching prospects its a matter of health and technical repeat delivery while having enough velocity to get outs. This game has sure seen some extremely high selections of pitchers not make it. Mark Appel is another that comes to mind. And in the 2016 draft Jay Groome whom the pundits thought the Red Sox got a steal has had TJ as well as developmental issues is still in the system Look how long it took Max Fried to get it - a 2012 draftee

BTW, I'll predict that Kevin Gausman is gonna drop off a cliff before much longer. He's nowhere near this good. Maybe this is just a career year or in his case a late bloomer who just might sustain it for a while. He was a 4th overall pick in the draft back in the day Hey Charlie Morton did not put up the good MLB numbers until his 10th MLB season at age 32 Rich Hill was not sustainable till late in his career I will go with the idea its one big career year

Baseball is a cruel business, no? I don't see anything particularly cruel here. It was his choice. The team is open to him coming back. He is just one of thousands of young players who try and make it in baseball and struggle. He got paid a 4.8mil signing bonus to play a kids game for an additional 4 years. Sign me right up for that sort of cruelty. Good God Gertie I had no idea he got that kind of signing bonus. That goes a long away explaining why a young person in today’s world would quit something when faced with adversity.

Showers and thunderstorms have weakened considerably over the last hour. Expect showers to continue weakening and be mostly light after 6:45 with residual light showers until 7:30 PM or a bit later. Could be in for a very late start on this one.

Pint was considered the second coming of Jesus Christ. With all the B.S. we’ve dealt with it’s amazing we avoided this happening to us.

Triple digits in HS so he is judged as the can't miss second coming.

Now that I'm back home looking at a better radar resolution, it looks like the showers will end in about 10 minutes. Online radars tend to fill in dry areas and exaggerate radar echoes. Maybe baseball by 8 or 8:15 PM.
GO BRAVES!!! -PA

This is in the MUST WIN category for both teams to stay in the division race This does not look like the same ole Muts who have opened distance in the division. And forget a wild card coming out of the East or the defacto NL Least. Braves and Phillies around the same position, so quite an important series all the way around Who wants it more? No repeat of the opening day series on our side - bad breaks or not. Taking 2 of 3 from LAD is really the team highlight of the season to date. We are getting into that 60 game mark, still have a chance not to make it so hard for ourselves. Every game we play is in the "must win" category for you. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
