Scott Coleman @scottcoleman55 Spoke with a friend who works in an MLB front office (not the Braves) and his guess on Marcell Ozuna is he won't play again in 2021, do a public apology tour of sorts and then return in 2022. Didn't think the Braves would be able to trade him and they can't just cut $65M 1:56 PM · Jun 7, 2021·TweetDeck
Scott Coleman @scottcoleman55 Replying to @scottcoleman55 Obviously it is just his opinion, but I would guess that is what happens unless Liberty steps in and eats the salary, which doesn't exactly seem likely.
Scott Coleman @scottcoleman55 (I do not agree with this hypothetical decision nor do I ever want to cheer for him again, but thought it was an interesting insight. Obviously, the decision ultimately rests with McGuirk and Anthopoulos.)

Replying to @scottcoleman55 Sam Dyson got a full season over some IG posts. They were gross, but they didn't include felony charges. It's going to be a minute before Ozuna is even suspended bc legal stuff will be taken care of first and he doesn't even have a court date yet.
Scott Coleman @scottcoleman55 Thinking out loud...
If he's suspended without pay for the rest of 2021 pending legal outcome, then the legal side is settled and then he's suspended all of 2022 by the league, they'd be off the hook for half his owed money. Would sure help the baseball side of this.
Jeremy Timmerman @jtimm684
Replying to @scottcoleman55 I still don't know why they wouldn't at least try to void the contract. The language is there. 1
Scott Coleman @scottcoleman55 I'm sure they will try but Rosenthal made it sound like they won't be able to

Grant McAuley @grantmcauleyh #Braves pitching prospect Kyle Muller has struck out 14 batters against just 2 walks in his last two starts, allowing just 7 hits in those 10 innings. After being charged with 11 runs over his 2 two starts, Muller owns a 2.95 ERA and 25 strikeouts in his last 4 outings (18.1 IP).
Grant McAuley @grantmcauley Over his last 17 games, #Braves outfield prospect Michael Harris is batting .403 (27-for-67) with 11 RBI and 10 runs scored for High-A @theromebraves . He's hit safely in 16 of those 17 contests and now leads the league with 38 hits in 27 games played this season.

Grant McAuley @grantmcauley Not to jump your tread here, but I don't think he's getting less than a 162 game suspension given the current information/details of the arrest and the precedent set by Dyson. This will probably be both a protracted legal issue and a lengthy suspension.

What if Ozuna came out and said "I effed up, I'm an a-hole, we're voiding the contract because that's what I deserve. I wouldn't feel right taking that money. The Braves were good to me and I screwed them, I can't take that money."
lol I crack me up sometimes.

This is in the MUST WIN category for both teams to stay in the division race
This does not look like the same ole Muts who have opened distance in the division. And forget a wild card coming out of the East or the defacto NL Least.
Braves and Phillies around the same position, so quite an important series all the way around
Who wants it more? No repeat of the opening day series on our side - bad breaks or not.
Taking 2 of 3 from LAD is really the team highlight of the season to date. We are getting into that 60 game mark, still have a chance not to make it so hard for ourselves.

If Ozuna is not playing through 2021 and misses all of 2022, that is nearly two yrs out of his career, most of it without pay.
That is enough penalty for me, assuming all is cleared through the legal system, etc etc.
If he does comes back in 2023 or later and is wearing this uniform and he hits well and is the good teammate he has been, I will welcome him back. Its the baseball that matters to me & that is a hefty penalty to pay.
Note this guy has no past criminal record. Of course none of us know what has gone on behind closed doors, so it could be worse than we know. Toxic relationships - can drive even good people over the edge. Not judging either party that is up to the legal system.
Of course getting it back two yrs from now after missing all that time and being age 32, no easy task. Ozuna could be done.
In the meantime, got to find a productive bat, will not be easy. By 2023 we should see a better Pache and Waters we hope will be ready so who knows if there is room for him.

I would not mind taking a look at Yasiel Puig and see what kind of game shape he is in to see if he might be able to help down the stretch.
Ryan Braun is still out there but I do not think he wants to play anymore.
These are the only two names left of unsigned FA power bat outfielders left
Guess the other option is a trade but what can we offer that makes sense? What can we offer where you are not stripping the system but offer something other teams want?
Does Kyle Wright and Braden Shewmake have any value? Mueller and Langliers should be off limits and I still do not want Waters and Pache moved I think Pache might get it in time.

Let me be perfectly clear. I am not excusing nor would I ever excuse Ozuna's actions in this situation. NEVER. However, I would venture to say that the majority of people have been in a volatile relationship at one time or another. The Ozunas seem to have a relationship that has moved from volatile to toxic........and dangerous. They've both been arrested for violent behavior. They need to end their marriage as amicably as possible, and once Marcell has done the time for his crime, he should be allowed to move on with his life just like anyone else. I'm certainly not going to judge him. I've been in a relationship like this. It never went this far, but it got close. Just my 2 cents.

I think you're right that most people can identify with being in some kind of volatile relationship. And when it's someone you care about or maybe even love, it is very passionate--on both ends--on the love end and the anger end. Both of those work to elevate things. It becomes a matter of at what point does a sane sensible person say "enough" before it actually become violent. That can be an excruciating process and decision, and I know because I've been there too. But there's also no doubt there's a point when sane people know to walk away and do. If you let it get to the point where you're choking a woman and threatening to kill a woman, you're no longer sane in my opinion.
Based on information we have because the police witnessed it, I don't see how he's not guilty of a felony offense. It feels like there's no chance he will be convicted, because people with money don't. Whatever comes from the legal side of it, to me it takes several years for a person to truly turn themselves around. Good luck to him whatever comes of it, the bottom line would be for him to regain his sanity and get his life back together.

Just my 2 cents. have been in many relationships and all of my friends have as well. I don't know a single one that has busted his lady upside her head with his cast, or threatened to kill her. I will absolutely judge him for his actions here. There is no excuse for what happened and if it was that bad then it should have ended long before it got to this point. He can vow to do better and he can and should be allowed to move on, but I will most certainly judge him for what happened here. I've been mad enough to have thought about a lot of things, but I never acted on it. He did... it was wrong. He's by all the evidence we know; a felonious wife-beater. There.... I proudly judged him. He should have split with her after she gonged him with a frying pan, so not only is he by all accounts a wife-beater, he's also dumb as a box of rocks. There... I judged him again.
