This is from the Yanks vs Sox game. Pitch 7 was called strike 3. Unbelievable. One that bad almost seems like it was called intentionally.

If it's the Yankees and the Red Sox, I'm fine with it 😝

Seriously, though, if they want to get offense back in the game they need to shrink the zone a bit if anything......and stop pitchers from junking up the ball.

View AttachmentA pitch that far off the plate would effectively be on the batters box line. That's simply NOT acceptable for a professional major league umpire. Judgement is one thing...ineptness is on another level.

They need to stand up to the union and allow performance review and reward/punishment for that performance.
They also need to stop the rotation of umps and leave the ones with the highest graded performance calling strikes behind the plate.
That or just be done with it and have robo-ump.

I saw someone try to justify it by saying the umpires positioning probably prevented him from making the correct call.
Bull butter. Even if he is out of position, one can still EASILY see that was well off the plate. Bring forth the robo umps.

If that's the case then the ump needs to put himself in better position.
No excuse
