I think Freddie would do $20M per year for us to stay in the organization. Possibly a front loaded deal like Arenado has. Don’t see that happening. He just won an MVP award. His agent will demand some money and knows how much he will get in open market. Dodgers and Angels could have interest and have money to shell.

His age should play into our favor, he'll be 32 by the end of this season. Plus I think he's always wanted to play his entire career with us. We'll see.

His dad is a CPA, isn't he?

Also his kids are young and maybe want to be more with them in So Cal. Just saying though. I don’t want that to happen.

They live in Atlanta, so he has his kids as near him as any other MLB player.
It's his parents and extended family that still live in California.

I've actually wondered if he'll play at all after this season (even though I know it's nuts). He's got the luxury of hanging it up and being a full-time father and husband if that's what he wants, and he's definitely the type. It's what Adam LaRoche did. Just sayin'.

Freddie’s mother died when he was 10 years old.

That’s always been the pattern in the past, it’s not unusual for him to have some pretty long slumps and strike out a lot then hit .680 for a month with ten home runs. But I’ve never seen him have this body language at the plate. I hope I’m totally wrong, but I get the feeling he doesn’t even want to be in there hitting, he just wants to get it over as quick as he can. I hope I’m just imagining that.

That's exactly what got me thinking he might actually quit. Family is a huge thing to him. I could definitely see it. All I know is he hasn't signed another deal. I have no idea why.

I do not see this ownership group stepping up to pay him 30 plus million a yr over a 5 or 6 yr period.
Perhaps if they had not incurred the losses during the pandemic, maybe but this is a bottom line business oriented corporation.
If FF hit free agency I would not be surprised to see one of those big ego teams like a Boston or LA Angels or even the hated Yankees offering say, as much as 8 years for who knows what.
I still do not want to trade him - would rather lose him than take a Casey Kotchman type of return at the deadline. Like what was done with Texiera, would have been better taking a compensatory pick that that marginal talent
Freddie has to take care of himself and the shirts at the top just might have to make an ugly unpopular business move
We might be saying Thanks for the Memories. I will wish him well if that happens
And FF should not take a penny less than what he is worth - he is as much a 30 mil per player as anyone.
He deserves it

I suspect if Freeman wants something like 7/$210 or 8/$240 we best trade him asap, because the Braves ain't gonna do that, I don't care who he is or what he's done. IMO

In my opinion we aren’t going to see guys 32 and older getting more than 5 years at $20-25M anymore. I don’t think one of those deals has ever ended up being a good idea, and smart people should realize the popularity of baseball is dropping already and will keep getting worse from now on.

There is always that one dumb team out there. As for the case of Freeman, no one is saying anything - but word was that Freddie's camp has not been approached. Can it be they are not planning to make any kind of offer fearing the market price is too high? Hard to say, on the other hand once the season is over who is to say both sides find a way to an agreement. This is one that I would never put the rent money on I just do not want him traded for a bag of beans no matter where the Braves are in the standings. Would rather have nothing than junk like Casey Kotchman and Steve Marek
