I have some degree if concern that Acuña's wrist injury may become chronic. In an interview he claimed it was all healed up, but then went on to say if it flared up again he would just do as he did last season (somewhat ineffectively, mind you), and just play through the pain. It was odd language. Not "Yeah it's all behind me and I'm ready to go", instead opting to immediately talk about his plans if it starts bothering him again. To me it came across as if it may be a lingering issue with him not being 100% confident it's behind him, and it definitely affected his performance last year. That's my big concern right now.... what is yours? Bench? Pen? Having to watch Ozuna actually play in the OF this year.
Yeah, that and the fact that his crappy defense will negatively impact his hitting.

I'm watching the Twins feed on stream, they just mentioned a whole bunch of changes that are going to be tried throughout different levels of baseball. They're going to go over them later, but for now they mentioned the "size of the bases" and a rule a pitcher can only throw over to first base twice per runner. I assume they meant how far apart the bases are. Somebody kill me now......considering where this sport is headed. Why are we considering changing the distance between the bases? The games wouldn't last as long if the poor fellas didn't have to run so far? lol........

It seems to me I recall hearing they’ve kind of proven that hitting over the shift, everybody swinging for the fences rather than getting guys to adjust is more productive. As long as that’s the mindset we won’t see many guys trying to hit it the other way. Unless they can do it with power. I think the shift was one of the main factors that got guys to change their swings and focus on elevating he ball.

Rules might be the only way to change it.

Rules might be the only way to change it. For many years I kept calling for the hitters just to do what we were taught when we were playing ball, hit the ball where it's pitched. Asking a modern day baseball player to focus on fundamentals is a waste of time. Just lift moar weights and change swing plane for hoam run, much easier. Guys who just fly out a lot more than they ground out get patted on the back now.
