So........Cubs or fish? Any preference? It's a tough call for me. We play the fish a lot, so it concerns me that they're due against us, but the Cubs have playoff experience. I'm torn. I'm also glad that the season isn't over yet, and that we still have a shot at the first (and hopefully the only) church league championship in MLB history!

The Cubs and Marlins are both douchey, I really don't care which team we play, I think we match up well with them. I really hate the Cubs a lot so I'd kind of prefer to knock them out.

I think the Braves could sweep the Cubs. The fish could perhaps be an issue, they've certainly got some talent developing there. Matchup wise I think the Braves would have an easier time with the Cubs-- their offense has sort of stagnated. Marlins just have that feel of a team whom could cause serious chaos if they aren't eliminated quick.

The fish and the fact they have this weird never lost a post season series mojo worries me.
I would rather face the Cubs, but whatever... if we can't beat any team we face then we don't deserve it.
Truly I wish we could face and beat the Cardinals.

Votto and Neck both looked washed up in this series. IMO Votto was still an elite player through 2018 then just dropped off a cliff. What about this guy, who turns 35 at the end of the year, and who very much like Cole Hamels, couldn't be healthy for the 60 game church league season even after having an extra 4 months to heal and get his body in shape? Add in Votto and Neck, and what do these guys all have in common? They all pretty much hit the wall at you guessed it, 35 years of age. For me, that's sort of the cutoff point for a player. Yes, there are guys who perform well after that, but for the most part, guys are done or at least their elite years are over, and why pay a monster salary for replacement level production? Cutoff for me would be age 36. I might provide guys like Freeman an extra year beyond that age, because he's our guy and has meant a lot to the franchise, but ain't no way in hell I'm going past that age for a free agent, I don't give a damn how good he is. Let other teams pay guys big money for sitting on their asses. I'd much prefer to wrap up my best players early like we've done with Acuña and GAPOZ, even if I had to agree to a renegotiation clause based on some production metric, which I think is a brilliant idea. Let's say Acuña is rolling along posting 150 OPS+ or greater every year 4 years from now. I'd have no problem renegotiating the rest of his contract at something closer to market rate, because you have a great player who is IN HIS PRIME. OK. That post got a little longer than I intended. www.si.com/mlb/2020/09/29/josh-donaldson-injury-twins-wild-card-series-roster
