While out to dinner I checked the HRRR hi-res model and it looks better for tonight. The radar now is showing intermittent light showers. I haven't had a chance to check everything but it looks like only about .1"-2" of light rain during the game time period and trending lower. It also appears that any moderate rain may hold off until after the game time period and may be lighter than expected. All on all provides a better window for play considering they probably want to because of Miami.
Rainfall totals at automated weather stations in the greater Atlanta area are mostly between .25 and 5" so far.
Go Braves!

SEPT. 24: Great news for the Braves: Fried will “certainly be ready” for the start of the playoffs, general manager Alex Anthopoulos told MLB Network Radio. Of course he thought Hamels would be ready too... yeah I don't trust anything that guy says. Yeah he's a major screw up and butthole.

Radar not looking promising for tonight. But it's a game the marlins may well need, so how will they handle it?

Braves just announced the first pitch will be delayed. No $h.it, Sherlock.

Fried worries me. He wore down last year, and recent weeks seem to hint at the same thing. He's a skinny guy to begin with. Hopefully, we see the July/August version the rest of the way. Fingers crossed.

Nexrad radar echoes show a narrow band of moderate to possibly briefly heavy shower (35-40 dBZ on radar) is on track to hit just before game time (~ 7-7:10 PM. Should only last 15-30 minutes total including any lighter rain with only about 5-10 minutes of moderate/heavy rainfall.
P.S. Looks good for a while after that.

Tonight’s first pitch will be delayed. We will provide updates as they become available.
Which probably translates to canceled based on radar.

Heavier rain is through. Just several minutes of light rain left. Maybe some light drizzle after that but nothing accumulating for a little while. We may have a window here.

When it rains all day like it has today, I wonder if they instruct all personnel ro remain in their hotel rooms for covid protocols. Keeping everyone separate like that is about the only way I can see this game being played after a delay of 30+ minutes.

They are playing in Atlanta. I don't think they are all at Hotel, but who knows. Many probably have apartments in the city.
It's a big empty stadium.. plenty of places to hang out.

Hope they play ball Hopefully we can start by 8 PM or a little after. Just some periods of very light rain/drizzle for a while. I think we're going to see some light rain developing between 10 and 11 PM. It will generally be light until after 12 PM but I certainly don't want to se anyone getting hurt playing on a wet field either. More accumulating rain coming after midnight but possibly some by 11 PM. Another .25" - .5" likely after 10 PM and overnight. A few light showers will be around until then but shouldn't adversely affect play. That being said this being a tropical system a brief heavier shower is not out of the question at any time until then.

It's eased up where I am, but it was a real frog strangler for awhile.
