Fried's fastball averaged 92.8 mph and touched 93.8 mph in the first inning. That's around where he was in the first inning of the last two starts made before going on the IL. His 4-seamer averaged 94.8 mph in the first inning of his Aug. 26 start against the Yankees.

And they just said the Magic Number was 7. Did anyone get an explanation of why we all think it is 1 more than it is?

Fried's fastball averaged 91.8 in the second inning. His fastball averaged 91.5 mph in the second inning of his Sept. 5 start, which is when his back began bothering him. In the eight starts before that outing his 4-seamer had averaged 93.9 mph.

Swansby is in a helluva slump.... 1 for his last 26.
Why is he still hitting in front of Duvall?
He should either be moved up to maybe second because he was hitting well at the top this year, or down, but why leave him 5th when he's struggling like this? He's not a 5th place hitter any day of the year. Duvall, is.
