Well, you can lament the good old days and pray for a new owner who will make us a top 5 payroll team all you want. In the meantime I’m going to live in reality and realize things are what they are and we have to have a sensible budget and spend our money very wisely and keep our farm system as strong as we can or we’re going to end up being a 50 win team again in the near future. It doesn’t mean I don’t want to win as much as you or anyone else, I just get why AA’s hands are tied. LM has the right to spend their money any way they want to. I do think they’ve been fair, they just haven’t gone nuts. I think one can look at the last 20-30 years and see that big money teams don’t even win it all very often anyway. I’m sure that Liberty is ecstatic that they have fans who are fine with just ok. What a blatantly horrible lack of understanding of the whole picture.
Meanwhile go on bitching and moaning all you want about Liberty and how you demand you get your new shiny toys every year and see where it gets you.

No lack of understanding. I think they should take that extra step, not spend likes there’s no tomorrow and you’re satisfied with the status quo. Don’t get your panties in a wad. We

We What's the extra step? That "extra step" is adding an impact player or two. If they aren't going to spend more money, then it's trading top prospects. So obviously you don't understand the whole picture, and you just need to pay attention to your own panties.
I never said I'm satisfied with the status quo--I said I understand when AA wants to hang onto those prospects. I'd love to add a nice piece or two also but I also understand how difficult it is and what it's going to cost. I'm disappointed, but I get it.

Even though you think that I’m totally ignorant about understanding anything about baseball, I do understand that you get highly upset when anyone disagrees with you. I’ll do my best to not respond to any of your post so your blood pressure won’t go through the roof.

Yep... As soon as the accusations of being satisfied with the status quo, I'm done with the conversation.
This discussion has been had too many times.
People are going to believe what they want to believe.

I don't get upset when someone disagrees with me, I go to great lengths to back up why I believe what I believe.
You're backing up what you think by saying we should spend more money or trade prospects.
I'm just supporting why I believe that's not reasonable given that we are a mid market team with a mid market payroll and that's the way it is and the way it's going to be for the foreseeable future.
Don't think too that you can keep taking shots here and there, and you have frequently, and not get strong reactions back. Like when you said you're sure Liberty is happy they have fans like me who are happy with "ok."

I am getting the impression there is some poster history here.
No big deal, but this conversation and the comments about knowing how someone is/reacts seems very familiar, lol
Just a reminder: There is an ignore button.

I think Tampa has proven that the best way to make trades is to trade guys who are either stars or very solid major league players to some team that goes into all-in mode. They trade guys like Pham, Cron, and Archer with regularity. They just traded Martinez this week. Trading prospects for stars is a short-term solution.

Well, the last time the Braves have gone all out for a Free Agent signee we went five yrs on the wonderful Melvin Upton Jr
And around that time we did make a splash for Dan Uggla, got one servicable yr out of him, extended him for five yrs around age 30 or 31 and we saw the rest of that story
Do we want that again? Of course not.
All in all, at times LM has spent, other times went cheap but for the last 2 yrs its been a respectable payroll. But other then Will Smith whom we went for 3 yrs, the spending will be more toward the shorter one of two yr deals (Donaldson, Ozuna, Hamels etc)
I like that - its not being real cheap while keeping flexibility. Those 12-13 yr deals are crazy, look at Stanton for example you think he is a guy who will age well? Do any of us think Harper will be aging well in his mid to late 30s. I like the one to 3 yr deals on FA guys and keep our own homegrown long term
And when a reasonable trade is available at deadline time Alex will pull the trigger. Like the rebuild of the pen last yr continuing to this yr
Look LM will never be the people's choice. But there are worse owners out there - for example that ownership group in Colorado that ripped the fans, you do not see that here. And Truist and the Battery is one legacy that this corporation can be credited for. We have a reason to go early and stay later and when we can get back to the games have a vacation near home if you so choose.
Overall, the status quo of what we have now is not that bad, can we improve of course. But man I would not have wanted to give up what is near a sure thing in Waters and or Pache at all, believe it or not I am on the side of keeping a prospect for a change.
Would some rather have what the Phillies have been doing? Remember when the Padres went all in a few yrs ago, they had to tear that all apart and that did not work so well for them.
Now, if Freddie Freeman is not a Brave after this contract well, that is another issue - but to their credit they could have moved him out if it was all about just saving money during the build
