They (SD) give up 3 of their top 11 prospects and two young guys on the MLB roster in Quantril and Naylor who might get better.
Cal Quantril was a disappointing starter last yr, did better in relief this yr
Hedges is a legit MLB defensive catcher
If I were a Cleveland fan on one hand I would be feeling like we gave up quality for quantity.
On the other hand, given the number of players acquired, got to think some of that package will hit
There had to be more to the Clevinger thing than just what had gone on this yr, hard to get quality pitchers like that
For one thing if I am a sports exec I am not tolerating that haircut

I am okay with the Braves passing on Clevinger given the return Cleveland got for him I really want Pache, Waters and Acuna in next yrs OF with Ozuna as our DH. Nick in a role maybe as player/coach. Than you got the IF of Riley, Dansby, Ozzie and Freddie and the catching I got to check on the contract status of Tyler and Travis. We got a couple of kids in the system too. Lineup looks good for now, next yr and the future but got to get Freddie extended - now that is another discussion. The pitching will have to be improved in the off season. As for this trade deadline its still possible they can get a lesser pitcher like a Gausman. So long as you do not give up too much BTW : Any update on what goes back to Baltimore in the Milone deal? I hope its cash considerations I want to see JTR as our catcher next year. If he’s serious about winning he needs to jump that flailing ship over there and get on board with us.

He will cost you of course, who doesn't want JTR This will be an off season of payroll uncertainty cause we don't even know if we are going to have another season with no fans in the stands in 2021, but that is another long issue for another tread, but it will effect the economics of the game Might get some mid tiered SP for cheap. And just maybe Wright just might get better in 2021. The stars should get theirs but there will be some good bargains out there for injured former stars and middle of the road guys

Frack the front office Oh well, guess its just the church league season as someone posts Can't really argue with that - I would not sell the farm for what is available I really want to know what was given up for Milone Gonna be in the playoffs anyway well, we should and hell, we always get first round exits, that is part of the ATL sports scape That is all I expect and its okay

Anthopolous said money wasn't factor in #Braves not adding an impact starter at trade deadline, said it was purely talent -- they couldn't or wouldn't line up with what teams with such starters wanted. (In other words, they wouldn't give up the young talent teams were asking for)

If Waters and Pache become All-Stars in a couple of yrs then we just might be thanking Alex for his inaction at this deadline.
And man, what if Wright really does get it figured out. What if?? Then we just might have the hope of winning a post season series for a change if the baseball luck gods can get on our side for a change.
Lift the curse of Eric Gregg's strike zone and Sam Holbrook's infield fly rule calls - maybe too much to ask

Other teams would waive shiny pieces and ask for Acuna and most people said yeah do it and then were pissed off when we didn't.

After the Soroka injury the braces are more than 1 starter away from the elite teams, get over it. Also: NO, camargo, Ender and Wilson are not going to net a TOR arm.

I know this is a shortened season, but it’s getting old hearing the same worn out line, “wait till next year.” We’ve been promised that the next year is the year for several years now. Hearing how loaded our farm system is with pitching only to see disappointment after disappointment. Seeing AA sign worn out rental pitchers. It’s becoming very obvious as time goes by that this ownership has no interest in building a dominant team. They’ll continue to shop at the Dollar Tree as each year fades. All the while saying “wait till next year.” I’ll continue to pull for the team, just as I’ve done for years, but it sure is disappointing to see opportunities slip by year after year.

I told y'all the asking price for a really solid starter was too much.

Other teams would waive shiny pieces and ask for Acuna and most people said yeah do it and then were pissed off when we didn't. Yea, hey I might have been one of them though I would have been more inclined to want to move the young pitchers who are much less certain than near sure thing everyday players like Acuna and Ozzie. It was in that off season of 2017-18 after Coppygate and Alex took over the Acuna and Ozzie value was bandied about. Maybe before that during 2017 when the old regime was in charge. Now in retrospect, say if all those prospects were not lost in the system at the time cause of Coppygate, perhaps moving one or both of them could be more on the table. As it turned out what Alex did in keeping them worked for the best. He knew he could not empty the system of its best young players, one of his first shrewd moves was dumping Matt Kemp that winter who wore out his welcome with salary and declining play. I wonder what kind of shiny pieces were waived in front of the FO under both Coppy and Alex who took over that winter - we will never know, always interesting to play what if even though what if turns out to be irrelevant. But just imagine the OF for this decade. And we have Acuna under contract for a long time with these two kids.
