Not so much Wright and Newk, but I understand Touki's inability completely. I think his pitching motion can be all over the place.

Braves reportedly closing in deal with Orioles to acquire veteran LHP Tommy Milone.
Just looked him up as I've never heard of him and his numbers are not good. As for this year, he has allowed 4 or more runs in 3 of his 6 starts. So looks like AA has been shopping the bargain/junk bin again. I guess the only positive is he's gone 5 innings in 4 of those 6 starts, which i guess is a factor in the decision to make a move for him.
Still though, I believe they could have done better than that if AA really wanted to.

Deal is official for Tommy Milone. Orioles will recieve 2 PTBL in exchange. I guess that's the impact trade we were looking for AA to make.
He does have a good K/BB ratio, 31 strikeouts to 4 walks in 29.1 innings pitched. But he does get hit a fair bit with a. 273 BAA

Yea or Nay... Braves get... Mike Clevinger Phil Maton Indians get: Brice Wilson Touki Toussaint Brandon Shewmake Alex Jackson A bunch of fringe guys who can’t make it in the bigs for one of the games best. It’s surely deadline season.

For this year Milone can't be any worse than some of the junk openers we are throwing out there
He is a legit back end of the rotation SP who has some innings this yr and seems like a healthy arm for this yr.
When healthy he has had some decent yrs in the past and not doing too bad for a not so good team in the Orioles. Hope the Braves did not give up too much though.
Would not mind it if perennial disappointment Touki is one of the guys going, enough is enough - I hope he will be gone by next year.

It’s surely deadline season. Cleveland would not take that package of AAAA guys for even one of either Clevinger or Maton. I would take a bag of field dirt sod for Touki. What a waste of stuff and a great arm.

I would think they would have named him if he was part of the trade

Milone was a decent pitcher for the A's in the early '10's but did run into injuries like most of the pitchers of today - so for the stretch run Milone should be an okay pickup as I see it

It’s not a great deal but Milone is a solid guy who can operate as 4-5 in rotation. He doesn’t have upside of Heaney or Musgrovr but is having a better season than those two. I expect a number 2/3 type to be added by Monday’s deadline

No reason to make a dumb move for church league.

You can't add 3, 4, 5 pieces of junk together and expect to get an impact player in return. If you're going to get an impact player, you're going to have to give up something that hurts.

I would move Wright + if we could get something that can help now and at least one more year.
I do not think as much of Wright as some on the fourm do, I do not think this organization can develop him. He might find a way in MLB but from the Braves record in developing young pitchers with that bad of control, his development is not here.
Sure he did not have walk problems in the minors, but 35 BB in 40 MLB innings, right now he seems like damaged goods from the mental side of the game.

Well be honest... you are not as high on any prospect as anyone else in this forum.
At some point you've given up on everyone you've seen and wanted to throw them all down an elevator shaft.

Totally disagree on Wright. He's still not been given a regular opportunity, and church league is just too short to give him that, unless we fall apart over the next 10 days or so. Honestly, Touki hasn't been given a real opportunity, either. Newcomb, on the other hand, has. If I'm giving up on somebody right now, it's Newcomb.
