Game 5 is what happens after you blow a game 4. The baseball gods are funny like that. In Freddies defense for his lack if hitting... the doc that cleaned up his elbow after the season said he had no idea how the man was even swinging a bat... I'm sure glad he played in all those games after his elbow went balky and was kept out there after we clinched..... Sort of like the 85 Cardinals getting waxed in game 7 of that 85 WS after letting game 6 get away And the 86 Red Sox, letting game 6 get away And to a degree in our case the 96 WS blowing game 4 and a chance to be up 3-1 Lonnie Smith's baserunning mistake in 1991 The baseball gods can be mean

Game 5 didn't bother me in fact I expected it. I still haven't gotten over Acuna not running and still feel it destroyed our MOJO and cost us the series. It was the crack in the Damn

It was the crack in the Damn That bothered me a lot too, but if that cost us the series then we have a bunch of snowflakes on our team. That's a case where you batten down the hatches and go balls to the wall after something like that rather than sit around whining about it. The other thing too is Acuna actually had a really good series, he was one of the few guys who actually hit, and that counts a lot in his favor.

I am pretty much over that game, but I still wish the Braves had moved on from the frustrating inconsistent Folty and gotten someone better in his place in the rotation. Maybe Ian or Kyle Wright (who should get another chance) can be that replacement Its yr 6 of Frustrating Folty and I am sure he will frustrate us again. I find his career more disappointing then Teheran's though Julio was not as good as we hoped, I do wish him well with the LAA As for the chop, one scrub relief pitcher is not going to take that away, hope we see him at the Battery and hit the heck out of him. (cannot bring myself to say the new silly name) In reality it's only three and a half years of frustrating Folty. He's only been with us for 5 seasons, the first one he only pitched 86 innings, and in 2018 he tied for the 8th best ERA in all of baseball so I don't think that counts either.

I've chalked the Acuna lapses up to youth.......but he can't let that happen again.

If he could repeat something close to 2018 for a couple of yrs, that would be nice I don't know if I would pay him the big money when its his time if he has a big yr in his walk year. But that will be an issue to deal with when the time comes, if he can be close to what he was in 2018 it will look good for us for this yr In the end you can really only take it one yr at a time that is how the game in this day in time

I don’t think he’s in line for big money even if he repeats 2018 this year, he still couldn’t be considered elite. It would mean he has elite potential but not there until he can be consistent. I get the frustration with him, I feel it too, I’m just not ready to give up on him. But this season is going to be huge for his future and for my patience level with him. I give him a little bit of a pass due to his injury last year and missing spring training, that’s a major problem for a starting pitcher, but he bounced back nicely at the end of the year. We shall see how he fares this year.

Of course, whether or not I trust him is neither here nor there...........or is it truist him? I'm confused.

I give him a little bit of a pass due to his injury last year and missing spring training, that’s a major problem for a starting pitcher, but he bounced back nicely at the end of the year. We shall see how he fares this year. After taking a look at his final 2019 numbers, yes, he did pitch very very well after he was recalled. Did not realize he got his ERA down to 4 and a half, that was an accomplishment after the start he had, so guess I can slow my frustration a bit. It does seem like he learned something after the demotion. My main frustration with him is the mound presence, that is why I like Newcomb better cause he seems always in control of the situation when it does not go his way Guess I got carried away with that game 5 that I forgot about the other game he pitched well in. Maybe I am not as over it as I want to be but man, 2020 is a new yr & we made some good moves in spite of JD moving on That I liked the off season is one reason I can get over the playoff disappointment. I believe our FO is working hard and in Alex I trust

I have no problem with a guy having some fire, he just had to harness it so it doesn’t work against him, and with Folty he lets it really cause him some problems at times. He’s gotten better overall but still has his moments. I think they have him convinced now, by results, that when he controls it he’s a lot better off, I do think he’s trying. I was actually s little impressed when he didn’t go into the dugout and flip out in game 5 when he got pulled. But maybe he was just in shock like the rest of us.
