On a scale of 0-10 how much have you gotten over that game?
I’m maybe a 1 or 2.
Given our choke history, that was the ultimate kick in the nads and I may never completely get over it. The only way I do is if we win at least one championship with this core group of players.
What exacerbated the problem for me is the way things went down with the chop. It’s like whoever decided to stop the chop for that game emasculated us before it ever started and we just fell right in line. I had a terrible taste in my mouth before that game ever started because of that B.S. and it’s part of the reason it’s so hard for me to get over that game.
I hope the players and coaches remember it really well and use it for motivation this year. Usually I’m pissed off for ten minutes after we lose a game then I let it go (unless I talk about it later), and I believe players have to have a short memory and move on immediately. But that wasn’t just any loss, and they should take it personally if they have sacks.

The chop thing is a whole other matter. Feel like they are trying to take away what makes the Braves the Braves and that sticks in my craw.

I'm a Braves fan.. I am a professional about getting over things. Normally me too, but this was different. Because of the chop BS and that brutal first inning, just sickening. That game left a scar. Ive never felt the way I did by the time that inning was over.

Yeah that's a good word, part of me felt like it wasn't real it was so insane. I was actually partially in shock.
It was pretty therapeutic though when the Gnats beat the crap out of the Cardinals, especially the night they scored 7 runs in the first inning.
I still have several good friends who are Cardinals fans, and they blew up my phone after that first inning in game 5. I deleted everything, calls and texts without listening or looking. But when the Gnats whipped them I just group texted them and said "f*** all y'all." Of course they can still tease me overall, but it helped to see them get hammered by the Gnats. I couldn't have rooted for the Gnats if Harper and Dusty were still there, thank god that didn't happen. Now Soto is the new jerkoff on that team, but even he was the lesser of the two evils in that series.

What will always bother me more is Game 4. Game 5 was an anomaly. Games like that happen. It was a damn shame it had to happen when it did, but it was over before is started. The Braves friggin' blew Game 4 big-time, though. Freeman and Donaldson, the big run producers, blew chance after chance, until we were finally able to give the game away. That's the one that really sticks in my craw.

I am pretty much over that game, but I still wish the Braves had moved on from the frustrating inconsistent Folty and gotten someone better in his place in the rotation.
Maybe Ian or Kyle Wright (who should get another chance) can be that replacement
Its yr 6 of Frustrating Folty and I am sure he will frustrate us again. I find his career more disappointing then Teheran's though Julio was not as good as we hoped, I do wish him well with the LAA
As for the chop, one scrub relief pitcher is not going to take that away, hope we see him at the Battery and hit the heck out of him. (cannot bring myself to say the new silly name)

Between the wild card game in 2012 and last yrs series, I have developed an intense soulful hatred of the Cardinals
Even more than the Dodgers and the division rivals Phillies and Muts
I hate the Cardinals in my body, soul and spirit

He doesn’t get a free pass for game 5, but if Freddie had made a routine play they would have only gotten a couple of runs in that inning.

The ball hit to Freddie was smoked but worse the base runner ran right in front of him as the ball arrived, not exactly routine.

I recall the ball was hit hard but Freddie is usually a vacuum over there. The floodgates opened after that.

I'm over the game but not over their antics or Jr getting HBP and I hope we have some payback in our future

Game 5 is what happens after you blow a game 4. The baseball gods are funny like that.
In Freddies defense for his lack if hitting... the doc that cleaned up his elbow after the season said he had no idea how the man was even swinging a bat...
I'm sure glad he played in all those games after his elbow went balky and was kept out there after we clinched.....
