Donaldson is gonna be paying his agents a ton of cash for helping him lose $10-$20 million off his next contract. Seems to me that he should have struck while the iron was hot and all the stupid money was being spent. Now, not only have some of the teams that were considering him filled their holes, there's been a LOT of time to spend thinking about his downside. I could be wrong, but TheRealMachine says he has screwed the pooch, and will wind up with less now than he could have gotten 6 weeks ago.

A decent haircut probably would have gotten him a deal by now. I imagine most teams are leery of having that white trash looking haw ass on their team.

I am not sure about Ozuna, Castellanos or any of the higher priced FA's left, its not like the cupboard is bare if we stay the way we are
I might consider a lower priced player, even one of the bargain basement SP's for org depth
And no more than ONE year, hey I like ONE year deals for FA guys from the outside
Also note, you sign JD for stupid money, whats left for a Freddie extension, that is coming up
It will be a good question what to do with Folty if he comes up and has a great year, what if he has a 2018 kind of yr and has the wins to show for it like an 18-20 win season - that will be an interesting situation
You never know what Folty you are getting, he showed flashes of brilliance the two previous yrs before 18 and last yr was jekly and hyde

That's his problem: .. and if we sign him under more reasonable parameters as a result, then yay for us.

JD will still get more than we all think there has to be a team we are not hearing about or a team like the dodgers that we are hearing about making a bigger offer than we know. Or think about this and it would be perfect for JD he is hearing the Nolan trade rumors and has been contacted by Rockies who are offering him a deal to replace Nolan. The Rockies would make out great they would get a huge package from cards and JD plays 3B and imagine what numbers JD would put up in Colorado

I'd pull the latest offer, sign Castellanos, and if he's still interested the offer just went down by $10M. Time to move on.

I kinda doubt they're gonna throw $100 million at JD, especially given their roster and his injury history.

He got 4/55 and glad we're not the ones.

I wanted Pollock but nowhere near that kind of deal. 3 years $35M was my limit until he proved he could stay healthy. And so far he hasn’t. Great player when healthy. But that doesn’t matter if he can’t stay on the field. Hmmmmmm.........
