I will say that I would like to have had Realmuto, though. The price was just too high, and it did them no good. I bet he doesn't sign an extension, either. Almost nobody signs extensions anymore when they're an elite player, why would they? He's the best catcher in baseball, why not run the price up and take as much as you can get?
Meanwhile Sixto Sanchez just tore it up in AA ball at age 21.

When he is ready to be a FA it wouldn't surprise me if they offered him stupid money to stay, especially considering what they gave up to get him....
.... and they will probably still finish in 4th

Realmuto will be 30 years old during the first year of his next contract. Also, he has played in 145 games this year, which is a lot for a catcher. He's very good, but how much is he worth, really? Will he get 5/ $125? 5/$150? More? Less? Can he continue to play in that many games? Is any catcher worth the risk of this kind of contract? Yeah, that's a lot of question marks, which is really kinda my point. I'd personally rather have 2 guys share the position about 50/50 at a fraction of that cost, but again, he is very good.

JD gives us a quick 1-0 lead with a hit to right.

Free beats a throw to home and it's 2-0. Let's use the muts as a playoff tuneup. Can't get enough batting practice.

It's been nice seeing JD consistently hitting and driving in runs by something other than the HR. It's a huge thing if he adds a lot of doubles to the alley and oppo singles to his arsenal.

Sticking to my gut instincts ...do not feel overly confidant in Dallas as game one starter. Hello men.

Not exactly the kind of start I’d like to see from the pitcher who’s starting the first game of the playoffs for us.

The Braves have shut down outfielder Ender Inciarte from physical activity, manager Brian Snitker told reporters including Gabe Burns of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (via Twitter). He’s not going to be a part of the team’s upcoming divisional series roster.
