We seem to lose a fair amount of players to being hit by a pitch.
Freddie's broken wrist. Kake's broken wrist. Charlie's broken face. Our catchers usually lead the league in getting beaned. Acuña was intentionally thrown at.
It seems to happen mostly when playing division rivals as well.
I'm really quite tired of it.

We just finished up a pretty tough 11 game stretch with a 7-4 record. I'll take it. It does seem we've phoned it in the last 2 Sundays against the gnats, though, but they're a good team still fighting for their lives. It happens. The Culberson thing really pisses me off, though. He plays a very big role on this team.

I wonder if umps ever get intentionally hit by pitch. I've heard stories of it happening in the old days.....call for a high fastball, act like you got crossed up, bingo.....

Do the braves go into post season with 1backup middle infielder? Or do they give Kazmar a roster spot?

My guess is that they carry Riley and Hech as backup IF's. The odds of us having to replace Swanson AND Albies in the same game are slight, so that shouldn't be an issue.
Bench will probably be
C Flowers C Cervelli IF Hechevarria 3B/1B/LF Riley OF/PR Hamilton Possibly Duvall if we go with a six-man bench and 11 pitchers

I doubt we carry 3 catchers given our injury issues. Riley and Duvall we probably carry. I'd prefer to carry Camargo over Riley if he's healthy. He's more versatile, even though we know he's not a good shortstop, and Riley may be an automatic out every time he goes up there. Now, if Riley shows signs of going on another crazy hot streak like he was on when he first came up, that's a different story, but with his tendency to strike out, the postseason doesn't seem like a good place for him at this stage. We shall see..........

We're going to carry 3 catchers and our injury issues only go further to guarantee it.
We don't have Charlie, so right there is a PH spot that happens tplay infield that is unavailable to us.
Charlie is also our emergency catcher.
We go with 3 catchers, move Fried to the pen who along with Newk can go multiple innings.. we then only carry 11 pitchers for a short series. Camargo definitely is added if his leg is healthy and would team with Hech as the backup infielders. If not healthy, then Riley because they can use him at 3rd or 1st in an emergency.

I don't know. I don't really think Cervelli offers enough from an offensive standpoint to merit carrying him. We shall see.........

He gives you an actual catcher who can come in and catch the game if you use McCann or Flowers as a pinch-hitter.

He does do that, and like you mentioned, the fact that Culberson was our emergency catcher certainly helps him. Peronally, I'd like to see a change allowing a roster move mid-series in the event of a verified injury. The way the game is played these days, you don't exactly have an overabundance of players to begin with.

They do allow a roster move mid series in event of an injury. Did you think they forced you to just play with 24 for the remainder?
