The Dodgers can clinch their division this weekend, they most likely are already coasting anyway but may coast even more after that.
I think it's a fair assumption to think that the Gnats are going to win the one card play-in game. It helps that they'd likely have to burn one of their top pitchers for that game, but I'd still rather not face them in a short series with their starting pitching. I've never liked the 5 game divisional series, after playing this much ball all year that series should be 7 games. The short series gives too much of an advantage to a team that is heavily loaded with top level starting pitching.
I'd much rather take my chances with us playing the Cardinals or Cubs in the first round. Let Washington and the Dodgers play the short series.
If I was to make a bet, I'd bet on the Cubs winning the Central. The Cardinals and Cubs have 7 games left head-to-head, 4 of them in Chicago. I expect the Cubs to get on a roll and crush the Cardinals. I don't think St. Louis is very good. I also don't think the Cubs would be a threat to us in round one, I'd take on either team.

Good points. If the gnats get by the 1 game playoff, they're not a team I'd want to play. That's assuming we hold them off and win the East, of course. Can't believe they won that game tonight with 7 runs in the 9th.

If I had to choose between the Nats, Cards, or Cubs, I'd choose the Brewers.

I just want the team to win as many games as possible until the division is secured and then whatever it is will be what it is.
If we play the Cards I fear some bizarre event will screw it up for us, so I would be happy if they don't make it.

I'll feel a lot better about things overall if we can simply split these 4 games with the gnats.

There is no team I would prefer the Braves to play because all of them are good in their own right.

There is no team I would prefer the Braves to play because all of them are good in their own right. Yeah but that starting pitching for the Gnats in a short series could be really brutal. The problem there becomes worse because we're going to have to count on scoring a lot of runs to win in the playoffs.

I'm never going to get over our playoff loss to them in the divisional series in 2003, and seeing the Cubs come back out and celebrate on home plate at Turner Field just to rub it in. I hated them already before that even happened.
Adding to that frustration was that we had a team that was good enough that we could have won the whole thing, and instead lost to the damned Cubs.

I think a lot of who I would rather play depends on who we decide to use as our starters come that time. If we use DK, JT, MS I'd much rather face the free swinging cubs. If we go MF, JT, MS I'd rather face the cards.

And this guy is still around screwing up games - no consequences for screwing a team in a playoff game

The last team I want to see in the post season is the Cards, they are the team I hate the most in the NL
September of 2011 and the 2012 WC game are good reasons
