Wouldn't cost that much in this simulated Madden environment.
Reality would be different.

Wouldn't cost that much in this simulated Madden environment. Reality would be different. Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m definitely getting a vibe of “I don’t really get this new fangled math stuff, so I’m just gonna crap on it.” Of course you can’t quantify a GM’s crazy price tag, or a bidding war, or fan pressure. All you can do is square the numbers. Ya, the Giants GM is gonna want a haul, but is he gonna get it? What team is gonna give up a haul for two 3-month rentals and a young reliever? It’s not gonna be much.

You would be 100% wrong. I deal with numbers all day long 5 days a week.
The reply to your 100% wrongness here is found later in your post.
"You can't quantify a GM'a crazy price tag, or a bidding war, or fan pressure"
I feel these are very real things that come into play with almost every trade, and I think it's very rare that actual trades come down to just this sort of math. Often GM's dealing a vet may have their eye on one specific prospect from another team. Sometimes this math doesn't fit what a GM may see as his need. There are all sorts of intangibles that the math can't take into consideration.
This purely math based trade scenario working is how it is done in MLB The Show 2019 on Playstation.

According to that, Contreras and Allard for Bumgarner and Smith is a slight overpay. Seems that would be a deal we'd do if we wanna go for it. That would be a steal for the Braves - I would even say take Folty please, cannot see SF making that deal Hope Folty is gone by July 31st maybe some other dumb team is silly enough to try to fix him
