I guess they are not so cheap if they can do a one year type of deal example of this is the JD deal and now Keuchel who is a solid innings eater and strong number 3 guy.
Its the long term team unfriendly deal that the Braves seem to have an aversion to - and in that case who can blame them when they got burned in the Melvin Jr FA sign and the Uggla extension
Its a solid move, they spend some cash on a need for this yr and its a celebration for the effort in getting the team competitive. Yes, I have complained my share about the corporate shirts, but for this day its a time to let the past issues go and enjoy this move
I do hope that Dallas can be ready in a couple or three weeks, in the end give them credit for something -- This time they tried.
It might or might not work, we will see
And JD has not been a total bust, somewhat disappointing but not something that hurts the team at all

This seems like a better move than signing him to a four year deal this past offseason.
Nothing against Kimbrel personally but I really hope he pitches like crap for the Cubs.

Only time I wish for Kimbrel to pitch like crap is when he is vs the Braves or in a game we need the Cubs to lose in the race for a playoff spot Had he signed with the LAD or Muts, I would be more hostile Its not like he was a Melvin Jr kind of guy when he was here, hey, it was our prior braintrust that moved him - and thank goodness for Austin Riley who saved face in that trade cause the rest of what we got in that one was crap

Still complaining?
lol.....
Apparently disagreeing with you is complaining. The opening paragraph from ESPN: "So the Atlanta Braves have some spare change after all. The bean counters at Liberty Media -- the team's owners who have run the franchise more like a real estate company than a baseball team in recent seasons -- agreed to find $13 million to convince free agent Dallas Keuchel to pitch the rest of the season in Atlanta." I'm obviously not the only person who calls a spade a spade when it comes to the Braves' business practices. I mean, since you use the fact that others passed on Kimbrel as proof positive that his contract is ridiculous, shouldn't I be able to use the fact that others see the Braves as cheap provide the same proof positive for my assertion? If Keuchel flops, there's nothing really lost, but what if he comes in and is a Cy Young caliber shutdown pitcher for us? We won't have him next year in that case, and we'll be back in the same boat. I like the move. It's good to see us finally do something to try and improve the rotation. I am very hopeful that it will work. I'd like to put an end to whatever this back and forth is. You think you're always right; fine, YOU ARE ALWAYS RIGHT. Feel better? Geezus.......... We are #14 in spending and the Phillies are #13. We have Julio, Kuechel, and Donaldson coming off the books at the end of the year. I mean that is 47 mil to reassess our needs with a young core. You can probably take Ender off the payroll as well, Pache will fill his roll. See how each prospect that makes it is worth his weight in gold freeing up money? It is just too easy to have a 30+ year old become a liability financially so these short term deals are fantastic.

Did not know we are 14th in spending for this yr, last I checked we were at 22. Another site had us 19th
If we are 14th then yes, there is not a heck of alot to bitch about -- would like top 10 but 14th for now considering where we have been is not bad at all
Better to have a smart 14th than a dumb top 10

Mets and nationals are in the top 10, so are the cards, Angels, and giants. Mariners are right there at 11.
Also Astros have laid out the model and we have the best potential in the league to follow it. They had one of the lowest payrolls 5 years ago and gradually have built into the top 10 by spending smart.

Not disagreeing with you or trying to give you a hard time but curious where it came from As for the Mariners, wow!!!! I thought the Mets and Nats would be there -- to date they have underachieved. In the Mets case the Cespedes deal has hamstrung them and he is not comming back this yr, not sure how many more yrs of dead weight that will be Once the bad TV deal is done we might get back in the top 10 and that is not that many yrs from now. I do expect and LMC is right to pair down the construction debt, the new digs and surrounding area was built as a substantial cost and they did foot their share with some help from the County IN the end it might all work 4 the best

After this lets go get Whit Merrifield -- I know its another post but that caught my eye and want for this team I will bump that one if there are not more posts on it I don’t think trading for Merrifield and having him on the bench is a good idea.

Merrifield plays the outfield too. Think about what that means.
