I can live with this for just the one year. Now let's hope he can get up to speed quickly and actually help us out.
He's not been the ace some people make him out to be, a least not 2 of his last 3 years, so I didn't want to cough up the big money for 3, 4 or 5 years like he was initially looking for, but this is probably a pretty good risk to take all things considered.
Cheap Liberty, cheap Braves, cheap penny pincher AA.

So apparently the Braves having not spent money until after doing what they needed to do by extending two of it's young position players, looked at their next issue; pitching. Looking at that pitching issue, they decided a short term investment starter was a better decision than a longer term less friendly deal for a closer. The fact that we have done okay in the actual closing department and can probably lengthen the pen as well by possibly someone from the starter role out there weighed heavily in that decision. Plus there may be other better soon to be explored options for helping the pen this summer that will offer much more value than an expensive closer. Why it will be a buyers trade market this summer.Y U NO SIGN KIMBREL!

I don't think they needed an ace. They just needed a solid guy who can do a respectable job and eat some innings.

Yeah, we're big spenders now! Gonna rent a guy for a few months. Can't hurt. Who gets bumped, Folty or Gausman?

PITTSBURGH — When a uniformed member of the Braves’ staff heard from a reporter Thursday afternoon that the team was in negotiations with former Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel, he asked if it seemed likely and said, “That would be a shot in the arm for us.”
Consider the shot administered.
The Braves agreed to a one-year contract with the left-hander on Thursday that will pay him $13 million for the rest of the season, the prorated portion of a $20 million base salary. The Braves are expected to announce the signing after he passes a physical Friday in Atlanta.
Keuchel, 31, is scheduled to start Saturday for Triple-A Gwinnett, and his agent, Scott Boras, has said he could be ready soon after since he has thrown seven simulated games of around 100 pitches each on an every-fifth-day schedule.
But the Braves will have a better idea of how many minor league starts he’ll need and how soon he might join the big-league rotation after seeing how he pitches Saturday and how he feels afterward. Given the severity of starter Kevin Gausman’s recent struggles, they likely will want to get Keuchel into the rotation as soon as possible.

Hopefully having Keuchel will change the dynamic of this pitching. Having that one guy could really wake up the starters. Not so much this bullpen we'll have to trade for that.

I’m just hoping that Keuchel helps more than Donald son of Rain has.

Apparently disagreeing with you is complaining. The opening paragraph from ESPN: "So the Atlanta Braves have some spare change after all. The bean counters at Liberty Media -- the team's owners who have run the franchise more like a real estate company than a baseball team in recent seasons -- agreed to find $13 million to convince free agent Dallas Keuchel to pitch the rest of the season in Atlanta." I'm obviously not the only person who calls a spade a spade when it comes to the Braves' business practices. I mean, since you use the fact that others passed on Kimbrel as proof positive that his contract is ridiculous, shouldn't I be able to use the fact that others see the Braves as cheap provide the same proof positive for my assertion? If Keuchel flops, there's nothing really lost, but what if he comes in and is a Cy Young caliber shutdown pitcher for us? We won't have him next year in that case, and we'll be back in the same boat. I like the move. It's good to see us finally do something to try and improve the rotation. I am very hopeful that it will work. I'd like to put an end to whatever this back and forth is. You think you're always right; fine, YOU ARE ALWAYS RIGHT. Feel better? Geezus..........

Still complaining, lol.....
I’m done wasting my time trying to discuss anything with you. And that’s not an assertion that I’m right about anything. In fact, I specifically say every time we get into discussions that I am not saying I’m right, I’m just saying it’s my opinion. I feel strongly about my opinions and I tend to make large efforts to support them, but I do make it clear it’s just my opinion and nothing more. So you can take that piece of hyperbole of yours and shove it.

My stated opinion on Keuchel was that I wouldn’t have wanted to sign him to the huge long term deal he wanted, but it’s probably a good idea to do this one year deal. And somehow I’m claiming I’m right. lol.....
