Since Kimbrel received a QO from the Red Sox, and turned it down, any team that signs him would have to forfeit a draft pick in the 2019 draft. It'd be hard to forfeit a pick after the draft has already taken place. The draft is in June. So they don't forfeit a draft pick the following year? Anyways sounds like a really dumb rule to be punished on. Precisely, and I imagine the Player's Union will work to fix that for the next agreement. Something needs to be done, though, because the idea behind it was to prevent teams like the Yankees or Red Sox from simply outbidding lower market teams for FAs. What neither MLB, or the player's union, expected was that teams like the Yankees and Red Sox would refuse to buy every available player. Sure, guys like Harper and Machado are gonna get signed, but not every player that receives a QO is a must have player; and those players get the shaft.

Braves: 17th (4.53) Phillies: 22nd (5.44) Marlins: 24th (5.84) Mets: 27th (6.18) Nationals: 30th (7.71)" Kimbrel has got to look good to all of us

In the article I read it said he wasn’t considering any short term deals.

In the article I read it said he wasn’t considering any short term deals. This is according to Rosenthal, who I don't care for and put no stock in. Here's another article but it just cites Rosenthal. Rosenthal posted that comment last night, I haven't looked a lot but haven't seen anything else supporting that it might be true.
