It's a couple of starts. I'm really not worried about it. I don;t expect it to be disastrous. I expect it to be just fine, worst case the pitching will be average. I sure hope I'm right though!

I would not mind a reasonable Keuchel or Gio or Kimbrel signing still. I have no idea if this team is going to be okay with or without that. I expect the offense to keep us in a lot of games this year and also expect all of the pitching in general to take steps forward since all these guys we've held on to are another year older.

@foxsportsbraves OFFICIAL: Julio Teheran is set to make his sixth consecutive Opening Day start, moving him into a tie with Hall of Famer Warren Spahn for the modern-day @braves franchise record.

James Shields anybody? He would not cost much and should not be more than a one yr deal
Also, there is Yovani Gallardo and Chris Tillman - should not cost much
OD starter is not that big a deal anyway?
As for Julio -- he has not had that bad a career, the best SP that we have developed in the last 20 yrs
He pitches to his 2016 level he will win 14-15 games and healthy will be close to 200 IP. Not a bad WHIP for his career either
He is better than Gausman who was meh with the Orioles, though good for us and does have better stuff than his record
He did not break down quickly like some of the good SP's that were developed -- remember Horacio Ramirez, Chuck James, Jair Jurrjens, Tommy Hanson, Kris Medlen, etc. Brandon Beachy also broke down and that was too bad he had real power stuff
Then we had the bust class like Kyle Davies and Jo Jo Reyes
Well, we did have Charlie Morton who finally got it together once healthy and with a good team - took him a decade but better late than never

The free agent starters who signed late like Lance Lynn did not have good yrs last yr - I would not commit multi-yrs to a SP who signs real late A reliever, that might be a different story, but at this point why sign Kimbrel now when you can get him after the June draft and not lose the pick That is assuming the Braves are very much in it in late June, of course Keuchel, I say #$@* him, no one seems to want to give him the yrs he wants, baseball people did not want to give him 5 yrs, and at this time maybe not 3 tired of these guys who play these waiting games

I am really concerned about our starting pitching. Kyle Wright came back down to earth this spring training, getting bombed today.

Everyone on this board would have traded Glavine apparently. And don't forget Greg Maddux's sparkling 6-14 record, 5.61 ERA, and 1.638 WHIP for the '87 Cubs!

After he figured things out that year he was gold. Also, most will not improve like Maddux did. Glavine was a finesse pitcher. He figured out how to use his control and the hitter's aggressiveness to get people out. Once again he needed just a year or two to develop. I am willing to give pitchers several years to develop. It just takes some longer and some never get it.

Well he did say he was willing to give pitchers time to develop.
