On topic, I'm jealous of all the cool cards you have. I had thousands of cards from the 60's and 70's when I was a kid, it had to be at least five thousand. I was just a stupid kid when I moved out of my parents house at 18, and I left them in shoe boxes under my bed. I didn't get along with my mom, and that gol-damned beyotch threw all those cards away. No telling what all I had in those boxes that I'd love to have today.

No telling what all I had in those boxes that I'd love to have today. I appreciate the jealousy. :-) A little backstory. As a kid, from the late-80s/early-90s, I collected all the wrong stuff. Eventually I took the best of what I had, or at least what I thought was the best, and I put it in a foot locker; I culled the worthless stuff. I was around 17 when I did that, and then I stopped collecting. I stopped collecting for a LONG time. For over a decade, that footlocker sat in the closet of my old bedroom and collected dust. Then, about 6 years ago, I had got back from working this job, where I was able to save a lot of money to help me move down to LA, so I could go to school. It was way more money than I actually needed. So, I'm packing some stuff up for LA, I go to my parents house to grab a few other things, and I notice the trunk. I open it up and it's basically all junk. I close it up and move to LA. While in LA, I get some news about this new release called Topps Heritage. I decide to go check it out at the nearby card shop. Since I got all this money, I decide to buy a hobby box. I don't even remember the last time I had done such a thing. I had so much fun ripping packs that all the love I had for collecting came back, but after opening up all the packs, I had mostly crap. This just wouldn't do. So, I thought, if I'm gonna get back into collecting it needs to have a purpose, a goal. That's where my plan to collect all the Braves base cards Topps ever produced was born. I started cheap. I put together what I had from the 80's and 90's, which admittedly wasn't much, and I bought team sets to catch me up to today. Then I started working backwards. It took a long time, but now I'm about 35 cards short of completing my run. I'm basically at the point where whatever cards I get are gonna cost me $100+, and in some cases $1000+. While collecting that run, I've branched out to other things, like auto cards, auto baseballs, bobbleheads, and the like. The coolest thing was collecting the Topps Venezuelans. I don't have a lot of money, but I make sure to put a little aside each month to add to my collection. It's taken quite awhile to get where I am now, and I've added more goals as time has gone on, but I'm having a blast doing it.

So, about 15 years ago, my parents separated. My dad moved in with his sister for awhile. Before then he was big into collecting football stuff. He had a ton of different things, autos, cards, memorabilia, the nines. Well, at one point my dad moved out and all of his stuff was in my Aunt's garage. While he was working, my aunt called Salvation Army and told them to pick up stuff in the garage. They took almost all of his collection!!!! She wasn't, and still isn't, right in the head, so she didn't know what the hell she was talking about when she called them and she didn't direct them on what to take and not take when they showed up. Suffice it to say, my Dad has never forgiven her.

By the way, now that I've been set straight on what should and shouldn't go in what treads, I'll let you know that the Strasburg signature was printed.

In my very inconsiderate post that I deleted from the sacred holy Braves spring training game tread, I did say that I am really good at tracing signatures--I could take a Sharpie and make it look like a real signature, and I assume you would vouch for me that it was realz.

Really excited about this auto; Kyle Muller purple refractor. Got a real good deal on it. This is a 1960 Topps Venezuelan. Got it dirt cheap and it's a better version of the one I already have.

And the one card I'm really happy to have picked up. 1954 Topps Warren Spahn.

This is some great stuff. I quit card collecting around 1997, but I've got some good stuff on Chipper and the Braves of the early to mid 90's but unfortunately that was also an era of over production. I eventually quit buying because I never wanted to sell anything so it just became an expense that sits in a closet.

So I got the Spahn card today and the seller didn’t protect it and it got demolished during delivery, lol. No big deal, I’ll just get my money back. I still have all my old Braves stuff from the 90’s. Since I decided to collect only Braves stuff I just got rid of everything else. Any time I buy packs I keep all the Braves cards I get, sell the stuff that’s worth my time to sell, and trash everything else. I wanna be that old man who has a room filled with Braves memorabilia.
