A monk asked Zhao Zhou to teach him. Zhao Zhou asked, “Have you eaten your meal?” The monk replied, “Yes, I have.” “Then go wash your bowl,” said Zhao Zhou. At that moment, the monk was enlightened. I’m glad he didn’t ask him if he had just taken a crap.

It's a difficult word to spell. lol
I met this guy a few years ago somewhere in the whacky world of cyber space. I cant remember if it was message board, social media..whatever But you would like him..he's one of those very real yet quirky types. He was a Vietnam Vet, sniper, three tours...the whole deal you know. I have a fb account with a fake name and ended up adding him on there. He's just one of those really good guys, loves his country, the military, and he has been a born again Christian for years. So he is always wishing everyone well, talking about Jesus, prayers, blessing everyone..praying for his country, Impossible not to like and respect the man and just something really sweet about him. He has his own heath problems, not much for money but always seems to put others ahead of himself. About a year ago his car broke down and it just left him in a real jam. He was asking people to pray for him and if anyone could lend him a few bucks, greatly appreciate it and he would pay them back. Of course he get's the usual garbage about everyone 'being broke' but they will be praying for him. Seriously those people drive me nuts man. You know everyone of his friends and family are just so broke they can't chip in and send him a few dollars? You could tell it just humiliated him to ask as well and here are these useless people. It just angered me to see it. But anyways I sent him the cash to get his car fixed. Without it he would have lost his job so giving him the money isn't even about doing a good thing it's just common sense right? You get it.
Now he is just like my best buddy forever....I got the whole will die for you man, speech from him ....always praying for me...again he's just that nice.
But he does have this habit of about 2 or 3 times a week, or per day of really flipping out. Not on me or on any of his friends but over politics. He goes ballistic man to the point he really does describe how he will put a bullet through Obama, Clinton's head ect. He threatens them, the White House, govt officials and congressmen all the time. Talks about what guns he possesses, how he will do it and all of this publicly. Not that I care or anything but hate to see the guy get into trouble as he does do it all the time. You can log off the net come back 6 hours later and he is still in a rage.
Then the next morning he's all calm again and talking about Jesus, posting Christian pictures. Rinse and repeat this cycle. And it's not my business. I didn't know if he was just getting hammered or maybe PTSD..who knows but I just didn't want to see the guy give himself a heart attack or get a visit from the secret service. The mood switch from lamb to lion and back again is really something to see. I'm naturally curious too as a human. I don't want to be nosy but talking to him yes I am curious. Is it the media, you know, what? So I just casually asked what he does when he is off work..watch TV? movies? Yeah you know what it is man. He get's home from work and listens to Alex Jones for hours. lol It's that..it's Jones working him up into this frenzy. And whereas much of what this guy says is true and his complaints about liberals ect we all get it and sympathize and it must be harder to see the insanity being an actual Vet. I get it, I do and fully respect his position but at the same time I feel like I need to get him off the Alex Jones man. needs some Jones detoxing lol

Just because I hate people doesn't mean I don't have compassion, I really do. It's just that on a daily basis so many people prove to be such a-holes it's just too much.
My wife has been a social worker her entire life and has worked for the V.A. for many years now, so I've heard every kind of terrible story that exist for what those people have gone through and what it does to them. Pretty much permanently. At best they find some kind of medication that offsets it enough that they don't live a completely effed up life, just a partly or mostly effed up life.
I hate it to hear he spends so much time raging, that's so unhealthy. We've touched on this a couple of times--most of my posts take 30 seconds to 2 minutes to write. Any time I write one that took more than five minutes to write, afterwards I think what an idiot I was to waste all that time. But I see it in several forums, there are people who are posting things that had to take at least 20-30 minutes to write, and they are doing it all day and all night. How does someone have so much time to waste like that? They literally have no life at all? What a shame to just throw it away, our time here is so short and precious.
Good on you for helping the guy out. Funny enough, I donate money to several dog rescue places on a regular basis, but I have never given money directly to any human being. I figure the government is ass raping me enough in that regard without giving me a reach around, so screw it.
Your friend is no Ping-ting. Have you tried introducing him to the Pinger?

That's exactly it man. And people, even very intelligent people develop habits that destroy their peace and mindset without even being aware of it. It's sort of a loop they are stuck in and while it's none of my business it's painful to watch. He's a great guy like I said and no matter his mood is always kind to everyone. And there could be more to it of course but it really does seem a case of a guy always doing his best, works hard, treats everyone well only to come home and have his peace destroyed by Alex Jones ect every night. You can tell even that comes from good intention as he fought for and really cares about his country so feels the need to always pay attention to it. Social media like facebook and twitter have to be the most useless and destructive force on the planet too. I used to think it was television, well it was now it's social media..it's a plague on humans especially the youth. And made all the worse as people lose any kind of spiritual grounding for lack of better words. That sense of healthy detachment. People worry so much about what they eat and health conscious but the vast majority never consider what they feed their head and I would argue that's as important if not more so. So much of the hate and spun out you see in the world right now is the result of that. I bet many of these shootings or the reasons for them start there...a lack of lucidity or spiritual base. By that I don't mean it has to be any specific program or religion either. It can be, or it can be nothing but a program of meditation, going for a quiet walk, listening to the right music...anything. I really do think that could heal about 90% of our problems right now as everyone is in this cycle of anger in hate. Tun off the Alex Jones and put on "The Git Go" by Billy Joe and the effect is instantly obvious.

A farmer requested a Tendai priest to recite sutras for his wife, who had died. After the recitation was over the farmer asked: "Do you think my wife will gain merit from this?"
"Not only your wife, but all sentient beings will benefit from the recitation of sutras," answered the priest.
"If you say all sentient beings will benefit," said the farmer, "my wife may be very weak and others will take advantage of her, getting the benefit she should have. So please recite sutras just for her."
The priest explained that it was the desire of a Buddhist to offer blessings and wish merit for every living being.
"That is a fine teaching," concluded the farmer, "but please make one exception. I have a neighbor who is rough and mean to me. Just exclude him from all those sentient beings."

"Our schoolmaster used to take a nap every afternoon," related a disciple of Soyen Shaku. "We children asked him why he did it and he told us: 'I go to dreamland to meet the old sages just as Confucius did.' When Confucius slept, he would dream of ancient sages and later tell his followers about them.
"It was extremely hot one day so some of us took a nap. Our schoolmaster scolded us. 'We went to dreamland to meet the ancient sages the same as Confucius did,' we explained. 'What was the message from those sages?' our schoolmaster demanded. One of us replied: 'We went to dreamland and met the sages and asked them if our schoolmaster came there every afternoon, but they said they had never seen any such fellow.'"

Bwahahaha, busted his balls on that one. I’ll bet the schoolmaster made that kid do 50 push-ups for that.

Zen teachers train their young pupils to express themselves. Two Zen temples each had a child protégé. One child, going to obtain vegetables each morning, would meet the other on the way.
"Where are you going?" asked the one.
"I am going wherever my feet go," the other responded.
This reply puzzled the first child who went to his teacher for help. "Tomorrow morning," the teacher told him, "when you meet that little fellow, ask him the same question. He will give you the same answer, and then you ask him: 'Suppose you have no feet, then where are you going?' That will fix him."
The children met again the following morning.
"Where are you going?" asked the first child.
"I am going wherever the wind blows," answered the other.
This again nonplussed the youngster, who took his defeat to the teacher.
Ask him where he is going if there is no wind," suggested the teacher.
The next day the children met a third time.
"Where are you going?" asked the first child.
"I am going to the market to buy vegetables," the other replied.
