I have one complaint about this game--Luke Jackson should never be "the go-to-guy" ever at any point, no how no way. And Snitker has been using him in a lot of high leverage situations for awhile now. I realize how feeble almost our entire pen is right now, but Jackson should never be used in any game unless we are up by 8+ runs or down by 8+ runs. We'd be better off using Culberson to pitch than Jackson. But who the hell do you go to?? If he goes to the rookies and they fail, he gets fried for that, although I'd like to see it myself. Going down there is Russian roulette no matter what he does. Not that I think he's the greatest tactician I've ever seen, but the truth is that they're all making Snitker look bad.

I think the biggest complaint I had this game was pulling Touki with 2 outs in the 6th. I would have given him another batter. If he gets the next batter then there is no Jackson and he can move on with Sobotka in the 7th. As it was he had to being Sobotka in anyway to finish the 6th and he stayed in for a scoreless 7th as well.
That being said, I know almost all options are issues. I would however like to see him have a shorter leash with the extended pen he now has, and let guys like Carle or Sobotka go 1+ more often if effective. First I would have let Touki go for that 3rd out. It was his inning and it was still scoreless. Then if you are going to bring in Jackson, do you really have to let him give up 3 hits and a walk and go from up 2-0 to down 2-4 before you go get him? It was pretty obvious after 2 batters that "this isn't working", and obviously it was no big deal to have Sobotka go for 4 outs as that is what ended up happening anyway.
I get that they are all making Snit look worse than he should be looking, but Jiminy Crickets... you've got 19 pitchers out there; When it's obvious Jackson isn't getting it done, yank him.. it was one additional out for next guy up. With as bad as the pen has been, I would also opt to keep the starter who had pitched 5.2 scoreless in for one more batter... maybe until he gives up the first run. I mean the pen has been terrible, but there seems to be little hesitation in turning to them.

I totally agree with your assessment of yesterday's decisions. Let Touki sink or swim in that situation. I see situations like that as growth opportunities for young pitchers. I know he had thrown over 100 pitches, but I really don't think a few more would have hurt. IIRC, you have Wright, Wilson, and Allard out there, too..........use them!
