Man, when Freddie makes an error, he REALLY makes it count, huh? That absolutely killed any chance we had to win the game.

Yeah Freddie has really been struggling in several areas, but it's hard to be mad at the guy... he has carried us at times all year and his manager won't give him any time off at all. In this heat and humidity you're gping to wear down.

Freddie and Nick are going to catch their second wind by the middle of this month and take off for a big finish.

Gotta day, all things considered this game wasn’t so bad. A couple of breaks and the Braves could have won this game. If you had told me going in that the Braves would get 12 men on base and the lead off man on over the last 5/6 innings I would have thought they scored 6 or 7 runs. Even then, without FFs error it’s a one run game. Not bad agains the team 50 games over .500.

I can live with the loss, all things considered, the only thing that concerns me is a continued problem hitting with runners in scoring position. The Red Sox pitchers really pounded our hitters with high fastballs, up out the strike zone, and we flailed at them all day. As usual.

True, but as long as they keep getting on base eventually they’ll break through.

ALL DAY is what was so frustrating. I could tell after 1 inning that we needed to just spit on anything and everything up in the zone because most of it was missing high and we were not catching up to it when it did catch the very top of the zone. Nope... we just kept swinging. Neck watched one at belt level be called a strike, and then swung at the next one that was Tomahawk high, 6 inches above the zone, at 96. You can't do anything with that even if you make contact.

I get the enthusiasm as well for being "close" without the Freddie error (and the other runs we gave up late), but that doesn't cut it. We're a 1st place team so even against a team 50 games over we should expect to be competitive. I don't think losing close is some great achievement. Losing close is an achievement for someone like the Marlins. We should be mad we didn't take advantage of our many, many chances to win.
