Duvall hitting is like a blind man swinging at an invisible pinàta. He's never been a good hitter. That's what puzzles me about it. What the hell were the Braves thinking? v v v v v v Duvall hit 33 and 31 HRs the last two years, 36 on the road and 28 at home. This year he had 8 at home and 7 on the road. Now he's gone completely unable to hit. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ That's what they were thinking. They knew the average was bad but that he had solid power, especially against LHP. What we got however has just been terrible.

It's like getting a date with a chick you've been eyeing for awhile.....she's not hot, but you feel sure she'd let you do her, and it would only take a few drinks to make her seem worth nailing....and then you find out she has herpes.

Guys, it's time to face it. Ozzie just isn't too bright. I'm going with youthful mistakes because he's having so much fun. I hope he can develop better plate discipline though. He needs to watch his buddy Acuna. That kid has a very advanced approach at the plate.

Got to see some of the game at the local golf course bar but I had to request them put on the Pirates game because they had on golf, tennis, and soccer. Go figure...it's PA and no Pirates game on TV at a place that has 30+ TV's! Glad to see Julio hold it together. Looked like he gained some velocity on the fastball after the first inning and was putting pitches mostly in good locations. We need that 4 game lead for some insurance with the tough schedule in September.
GO BRAVES!

Magic number down to 23 and time is running out on the phollies. If this lead holds, the phollies would have to win 6 of 7 games to win the division.
4-3; pick up one game 5-2; pick up 3 games 6-1; they win.

The Braves have 3 with the Red Sox then 4 at Arizona and 3 at San Fran....if they could go 6 and 4 over the next ten they have a real shot

If Acuna falters at all we're really in trouble unless Freddie and Nick start hitting again. I see 5 and 5 or 4 and 6 as more realistic but if the offense starts clicking 6-4 or even better is possible. Meanwhile the Phillies are playing the Met and Marlins in 12 of the next 15 games and 3 with the Nats sandwiched in between. I can see the Phils going anywhere from 7-8 to 11-4 over that span depending on how their pitching holds up and if their bats come alive. Should be an interesting two weeks before the Braves and Phils meet the final two times. Unfortunately I may not get to see the Braves/Phillie games unless they are on FOX, a local over the air channel, or on Sunday Night Baseball as I will be blacked out by MLB Extra Innings and MLB TV. I may have to go to a local watering hole that carries the Comcast Phillies channel not carried by DirecTV to see a game. Bummer! One other note: Between the two Braves series at the end of the year the Phillies have to go play FOUR in Colorado while the Braves have a day off and then THREE at the Mets. That could be big as far as gaining a game or two at a critical time, especially if the Rockies are also fighting for a division or wild card spot! That being said running into deGrom and Wheeler in those three games would be no bargain either.

One game at a time. Any team can get hot, especially a young team with guys looking to prove themselves. Look how tough Pittsburgh was. We went 5-1 against them, but they were all tough games.
