Yeah... heaven forbid an organization ask its players to maintain an air of professionalism by wearing the uniform properly.
I mean I love the openness of a company that lets its employees wear the trousers hanging half off their rear with their undies showing.
Baseball might be a bit tired in the eyes of some, but I don't think it is about that at all...
It has become a suburbanite game.. it is very expensive to play travel ball, and basketball has really taken over within the more urban areas.
Funny though... I don't really think baseball is losing money.
I am all for letting players show more personality, but something like this about the wearing the uniform straight plays on deaf ears when it comes to me.

To me there are certain places that are professional settings. I don't think it's out of line to ask ballplayers to be respectful and and look professional in their professional setting. And I certainly don't think that's a white thing at all. There's plenty of black professionals who dress professionally in all kinds of fields.

Some people look to turn something into an issue "just because". If I was a team owner I would most certainly have rules about how the uniform was worn.
No you can't cock your hat half-assed sideways...
No you cant wear your pants pulled up to your rib cage (The Bravepap rule)..
But I would certainly let you put nicknames on the back of your jersey.

Can't take that article seriously. It's like having a player on the Yankees blatantly start growing facial hair, the manager tells him to shave it, the player happens to be African American, and then someone writes an article about how the Yankees are racist.
I personally don't have a problem with how Acuna wants to wear his hat, but I understand how the team is allowed to have a dress code, and to turn it into a race thing is just ridiculous.

I equate it to working for a law firm and coming to work with your shirt untucked. Dude, we got a dress code. BTW, did you come over from the Braves Message Board or are you a new member?

I've lurked on the Braves MLB forum for maybe 3-4 years now but never bothered to actually sign up and share my own opinion. Figured I'd give this a try since this group so far is most of the people I liked reading on the other forum. Been a Braves fan since I moved to Atlanta from Boston when I was five years old. My username is dedicated to a story about Turner Field --- Back in high school and early college I had a group of friends who would tailgate together in the parking lot before the games. We were underage and dumb back then. One game, we decided to bring cans of beer into the game inside a cooler (stupid move for a lot of reasons). Up in the stands, an usher came up to me and asked to see my ID and said cans aren't allowed in the ball park. Being under 21, I tried to say I didn't have an ID with me, but the usher made me come with him. I could have tried running at this point, but that probably would have been another dumb move, so I didn't. I followed the usher as he lead me underneath the park to the police station. On the way there, underground, I remember passing Billy Wagner and that Saito pitcher we had for a couple seasons. I remember saying what's up to them lol. Then, I got to the police station. They made me call my parents, and told me I was banned from Turner Field until I was 21. So after all that, as I was leaving the ball park, I turned to my right as I was heading out and saw an open gate back into the ball park with nobody watching it. I proceeded to walk back into the park, find my friends, and watched the rest of the game. So ya lol good times. And thank god I survived my stupid years.

Thanks for joining, Turnerfield.
I think there are several things from the mlb board that are off-putting to some, and I don’t just mean fumbduckery’s disturbing memes, and jah’s taste in women.
Hopefully we can avoid those things here and if they crop up they will be handled.

Glad to see you've joined here turnerfield, great story, most of us had plenty of stupid days when we were younger. Thankfully most of us grew out of it (for the most part) as we got older.
