I haven’t noticed anything about CJ. I sort of forgot he existed.
That’s not a good sign for a guy.

I'll never love WAR and defensive metrics. I will lose every argument with you, all day, every day about this and most saber discussions. I like WAR as a general idea, not an exact science at all, same with defensive saber stats, but the eye test alone could tell somebody how wretched Kemp has been in the OF for years. I felt downright embarrassed for him watching him out there. I always liked him, and I liked the idea of us bringing him in the way we did, but to me he's just done as an every day OF in the NL. Between injuries and the degree of a liability he is in the field, he might be able to play 110 games in the field. He really belongs in the AL as a DH.

Truth be told, I liked CJ initially.
The fact that he was a bratty prima donna shouldn't (and didn't) come as a surprise. He had a bit of Robert Fick in him. Yep, I'm old.
I get WAR, but I think it's a tad UNDER valued....Mike Trout is (pick a number) 9.3 games above replacement? BS. He's 20+.
I wonder if TP will ever get his shot as Manager....what a great Brave he was and continues to be (sort of).
And yes, Kemp needs to go to the Yankees as I think they are permitted 110 players on their roster.

I loved how that entire Braves team would slam their helmets and scream God *** F D*** IT on south east tv whenever they K'd. Not good for the kids but good for my entertainment.

I wish him well, but for the sake of fun we should stary a Kemp DL pool. He's gonna ride the pine for LAD so he'll get fat eating in the dugout before he gets hurt.

Matt Kemp making the most out of his opportunity with the DodgersSo how long do we give it before he blows a hammy and then blows back up in weight. I really liked the guy when he showed up for us... I really like it when he came to ST in shape.. but face it, this is what he is now. I wish him the best, but I just think he's not going to hold up and the only real shot he has is to go DH in the AL... and even then I am not sure he doesn't have a quad muscle explode trying to get from 1st to 2nd. I think how long he lasts depends primarily on how often he plays. I could see him playing a full season if he latches on to an AL team, who's needs a FT DH. I can see him hanging on a full season if he's a bench bat, who plays in the OF sparingly. But, if a team picks him up with the intention of playing him everyday in the OF, I give it 2 months at most.

I think he will do well for LA just for the second reason you mentioned. He is not an everyday player and LA can afford to play him sparingly while letting him pinch hit regularly. If he can do well enough at that role, then they have a shot at tricking another team he is good again.

If he can do well enough at that role, then they have a shot at tricking another team he is good again. I don't see him lasting long on the bench in LA. I could be wrong, of course, but I don't think his hitting profile meshes well as a bench bat. He doesn't walk enough and he hits too many ground balls. When you take those two things and you add in the fact that he won't get a lot of at-bats to counter act those two things, it equals a guy who's either going to be in AAA in two months, outright released, or leading people to debate whether he should be starting over whichever corner OFer is struggling. If I had money, it would be one of the first two as the most likely to happen.

No team that has Matt Kemp is going to put him on their bench, Matt Kemp can still fart gold dust out of his pee hole. Matt Kemp is going to hit eleventy billion of everything this year, and whoever hits in front of him is going to hit twice as much of that because of the protectshunZ they have behind them. Y U WAR and saber geeks no see that?
In reality I really hate giving him a hard time because I've always liked him, in his day he was one of the most enjoyable ballplayers I've ever watched. I was thrilled when he claimed he was excited to be a Brave and was going to get in shape and give it everything. So I was disappointed the way things went last year. As much as I've liked him, I just can't believe there's really any chance that he has enough left in him to be anything more than a DH in the AL.

Matt Adams has played in only 7 games this spring, but I think everyone knows he can rake in spots.

That said, I liked Kemp's bat (when he wasn't rolling his wrists and grounding weakly to short into a DP). However, I do think its a sad state of affairs when our discussion revolve around a broken-down fat guy making 18MM a year to NOT play baseball, and our sorry options post-trade. I hope like hell Acuna strikes out his first AB, so he doesn't get the Heyward curse (LOL). If Acuna strikes out his first at bat, then he will follow another Former Brave that began his career in 1996, which I'm OK with.
