UP NEXT: Julio Teheran will oppose his good friend and fellow Colombian, Jose Quintana, when the Braves travel to Wrigley Field to play a makeup game against the Cubs on Monday at 2:20 p.m. ET. Teheran has worked 15 consecutive scoreless innings and has a 1.54 ERA over his past six starts. This game was scheduled after the April 15 game was postponed because of rain.

UP NEXT: The Cubs and Braves will play a makeup game on Monday, and celebrate Jackie Robinson Day as well. Jose Quintana gets the start. The lefty is 2-0 with a 4.70 ERA in three home starts. He's coming off a win over the Marlins in which he gave up one run over six innings. Quintana has three quality starts out of his seven outings. This is a makeup of April 15's rainout, which is when the rest of Major League Baseball celebrated Jackie Robinson Day. Players will wear No. 42 jerseys. First pitch is scheduled for 1:20 p.m. CT from Wrigley Field. Julio Teheran gets the nod for the Braves.

Rather quiet in Braves land on this date......unless you count Jose Bautista being 2-3 with 2 walks five years ago today (I looked it up)....Oh well....
1988 Jose Oquendo becomes the first non-pitcher to get a major league decision, losing to the Braves in nineteen innings, 7-5. After pitching three scoreless innings in an extra inning marathon against Atlanta, the Cardinals' utility man gives up a two-run double to Ken Griffey in the nineteenth to suffer the loss at Busch Stadium.
From the rest of MLB over the years, one with sort of kinda a Braves flavor.....and I don't see him stealing bases like that ever again.....
1939 During the Indians' 9-4 victory over Chicago at Comiskey Park, a woman, sitting in the stands near the visitor's dugout, is injured when Marvin Owen's foul ball strikes her just above the right eye. The Indians' starting pitcher, her 20 year-old son Bob, threw the pitch that resulted in Mrs. Feller needing seven stitches on Mother's Day.
2000 Although Sammy Sosa gets five hits, Henry Rodriguez drives in seven runs, and Eric Young steals five bases, the Cubs still manage to lose to the Expos, 16-15. Young's accomplishment on the bases is the most by a Cubs player since 1881, when George Gore stole seven bases.

Where is PA with the weather update damnit. After some convective activity this morning there will be a short period of atmospheric stability and chances will decrease for thunderstorm activity until later this afternoon and into the evening. That's not to say we won't see some showers just that "most" of the heavy rainfall will get going later today and into the evening. Instability showers are likely at times this afternoon in the Chicago area but I'll do a more thorough analysis (complex dynamics on this one) after lunch. Currently, it seems possible to play but chances for heavier rain may develop later in the game. -PA GO BRAVES!

A quick meso analysis indicates that steep lapse rates will provide instability along with a lower level jet advecting later this afternoon and an upper level trough will provide the impetus for showers and thunderstorm later this afternoon and into the early evening hours. Most of the rain, especially the heaviest, will most likely occur after 4 PM but not ruling out some heavier showers possible before that as indicated by the 12Z HREF that could cause a delay. My weighted multi model solution (doesn't include the latest HRRR run) indicates the most (and heaviest) rain will be after 4 PM and possibly after 5 PM. That would give us a window to complete the game. There is a smaller chance of up to .25" 3 and 4 PM hinted by the HREF and GFS although the NAM keeps most of that to the north. On the positive side, the latest HRRR is pushing back the heavier showers to between 6PM and 9PM. The trend has been to push heavier showers later into the day and evening. The 17Z HRRR is coming in now and hopefully continues that trend. Looks like most of the rain moves out after 8-9 PM and instability weakens. Looks like we should be OK for a least 5-7 innings before things begin to get a bit dicey but there is that outside chance of a heavy shower before then. The current radar is absent of echoes but I expect them to start showing up within the next several hours.
GO BRAVES!
