Actually he'll be 35. It's not the worst ideal considering he's a lefty and a stop gap. I mean Suzuki keeps killing it like he is, I'd like for him to to stay. He seems to like it here. His contract was only a 5 year deal, but what a disaster it was. Can you imagine paying a guy $17M a year for what he's done the last 5 years? Especially the last three.
Even as a backup catcher I just don't like the idea.
If we think we have our catcher in the minors, I'd rather sign Grandal for 2-3 years and have Suzuki or Flowers back up.
Sounds good to me.

There is no way he gets anywhere close to $17 million on the open market. He’ll be lucky to get half of that.

Over the past several weeks the thing that most stands out to me is the fact that if we could add a legit Power hitter to this team we could win it all. think about it when Albies was hitting Bombs like a legit Power Hitter we were scoring a lot of Runs. and now that he has come down to Earth where he most likely will remain. our scoring has dropped. it shows how much difference one guy hitting Bombs can make. I say we Must Trade for Manny right now. He is the missing piece. and with the Phillies as favorites to get him, it very well may come down to that. philly gets him they are IN. We get Him we are IN

We get Him we are IN I respectfully disagree with every sentence you just wrote!
We were winning because we had a lot more going right for us than just Albies hitting home runs.
In my opinion there's no one player we could add that would make us a legit World Series contender.
Trading for Manny would be silly unless we gave up almost nothing to get him and that's not going to happen.
The Faillies wouldn't be in if you added a healthy Kershaw and Mike Trout to that joke of a team. Notice they've now lost 6 out of 7 since they are playing real major league teams now. Their June schedule is going to leave them 8-12 games behind the Gnats by the end of the month.

We get Him we are IN Machado would probably only accept playing shortstop. Swanson is playing well enough for now that I'm not itching to replace him (1.4 FWar). I've seen elsewhere that some people want a starting pitcher and I don't. I would like a third baseman and a relief pitcher or two. I do not want to go all out for those players. I would stick with what we have if the cost for those two or three players would be too prohibitive. The Braves were never expected to make the playoffs this year. I would like them to make the playoffs of course. Thing is we have to remember that once upon a time the Braves had a good rotation and no depth. Then injuries derailed the pitching staff and the team wasn't good enough as a whole to pick up the slack. Our starting pitchers aren't firmly established yet. We can't really afford to trade starting pitching prospects at the moment. Once we run out of our depth it is gone. The recent penalties due to Coppolella's actions will hurt. The Braves need to be patient and take limited action if it makes sense to.

Looking at the schedule and July 2nd - 4th may be a blood bath for the Braves.
3 games in NY against the Yankees and the probable starters are going to be McCarthy/Teheran/Newcomb.
Oh, boy.
As a positive, though, their next 12 games will be against teams with a combined record of 105-164.

And I’m convinced Allard or Gohara can throw 5.00 ERA ball. Same with Fried and Sims

Here’s a prediction, the Braves will trade for Moustakas and Herrera from the royals, and we won’t like what they give up.
