UP NEXT: RHP Brandon McCarthy (4-1, 4.84) goes for Atlanta on Friday against Miami and RHP Dan Straily (0-0, 6.75).
TRAINER'S ROOM: Braves: Gohara made his season debut after coming back from ankle problems that derailed his spring.
Marlins: RHP Elieser Hernandez (tooth infection) was reinstated from the 10-day DL and made his major league debut in the seventh inning. He took the roster spot that was held by RHP Merandy Gonzalez, who was optioned to Double-A Jacksonville. Hernandez was 0-1 with a 4.80 ERA in four Class A and Double-A starts this season.
RIGHT AT HOME: The Braves are winning everywhere on the road these days, but they seem to always win at Marlins Park anyway.
Atlanta is now 36-19 at Marlins Park, the best winning percentage (.655) of any NL team in the stadium. St. Louis (13-7, .650) is No. 2 on the list. The Braves also became the first opposing team to score 500 runs at the park the Marlins opened in 2012; they came in with 497, the same as fellow NL East club Philadelphia.
The Braves gave up seven runs in a road loss to Philadelphia on April 27. They've given up eight in the eight road games since.

A couple Braves items from this date.........one of them some of us might have seen first hand...
1946 Boston loses to the Giants, 5-1, in the first night game played at Braves Field. The 37,407 fans, the largest crowd in thirteen years, are surprised when their hometown heroes take the field wearing shiny satin uniforms designed to reflect the light generated by the electricity used for the evening contest.
1977 Trying to snap the Braves' 16 game losing streak, Ted Turner, the team's owner, takes over as field manager. The skid continues as Atlanta is defeated by the Pirates, 2-1, and National League president Chub Feeney informs the new skipper he cannot manage again because of the rule which prohibits a manager from owning a financial stake in the club.
And a few other interesting happenings...
1950 A train strike forces many teams to fly to their next scheduled games. Traveling by air is still a rarity in the major leagues at this time.
1993 In the top of the seventh of a tied game at Philadelphia's Veterans Stadium, Jay Bell leads off the inning by grounding out to Phillies' shortstop Juan Bell. The Pirate infielder is rung up by, none other than, first base umpire Wally Bell.

I also hope Flaherty has a big game so we can get the team chemistry near where it was when Kurt and Dansby went down.

Mark Zuckerman @markzuckerman For now, #Nats are calling Wieters’ injury a strained hamstring. But the MRI is being sent to team doctors in DC and he’ll be re-evaluated there next week. So they aren’t ruling out possibility he hurt his knee as well.
