STILL... He had Hoskins down two strikes and made him look bad on both of them. He then just made a terrible mistake pitch, because that's what he does. we can debate pitching to Hoskins all day and all night, but the real mistake snit made was bringing his sorry arse into the game. My problem with Ramirez pitching to Hoskins after the runner took second especially is that regardless of the count Ramirez has no idea where the ball is going. So he was likely to make a hittable pitch and he did by getting the ball up and out over the plate.

Bottom line is the bullpen is going to be our downfall if we don't get it figured out soon.
Not sure what the answer is though but I do know that we need to re-evaluate the guys we are consistently running out there in the late innings.
As I've said before, I like Minter, Carle, Winkler, Freeman and am OK with Moylan. Sims is an unknown. Ramirez needs to be DL'd or DFA'd. Viz needs to be in less high stress situations.

True, and AA is well aware of that. I expect he'll make good on his proposal to utilize our up-and-comers out of the bullpen to get them some MLB experience. You gotta feel badly for a cat that's scuffling the way Ramirez is, but like the old sayin' goes, this is the big leagues. Viz ain't far behind him, either, IMO.

Fair point but I think the count was 1-2 at the time and Hoskins had looked bad on the 2 swinging strikes. My only point though is that with Ramirez pitching, we were screwed no matter what.

I completely agree with you on that. While I feel that with the 1-2 count and Hoskins looking bad we should have walked him, I do also feel convinced Ramirez would have walked the next hitter or thrown a wild pitch. It’s like choosing how you want to die. I’d rather not lose to Hoskins, but we were to lose anyway thanks to Ramirez. One thing that makes your point valid though is Hoskins will swing at some really bad pitches and look terrible. He did that a lot last night. With a more skilled pitcher in the game I would have been ok with pitching to him.
