Mets are now paying more $ to players not on their team than they are to the players that are on the team... Going for it... The idiot "writers" at Yahoo named the Mets the biggest winners of the trade deadline yesterday. They won the offseason and now they've won the trade deadline. Too bad they can't win actual baseball games.

When you add in the luxury tax, the Mets spent close to $500 million dollars to become sellers at the deadline; basically writing off all the money along with the '23 and '24 seasons. It is quite possibly the biggest failure in baseball history. This year is a big giant neon L flashing on the forehead of the owner and the organization in every way imaginable.

And yet somehow they won the offseason and the trade deadline, lollers........
They just went to Kansas City and got swept by a team that was 43 games under .500, and were outscored 20-8 in the series.
It's become beyond hilarious at this point. Their only goal that's left is to try to finish ahead of the Nats so they aren't last.

....and even if they did need to do what they needed to do at the deadline with dumping those turns and eating the money while acquiring prospects.... they will blow it again.
Having an owner like Cohen is a curse. He will not have the patience to follow the Braves model; to build a young core that you sign long term to team friendly deals as you go through a 4 year rebuild.
Just watch... he will tolerate maybe 1-2 years tops before he once again thinks he can go for it, and then he'll do the exact same thing again by signing declining vets to bloated contracts.
People like him with 100's of millions to literally burn always fall into the trap of thinking they can put themselves in a position to where their money can push them over the top. I expect the Mets to be right back to where they were this year at some point in the not to distant future.

I read an article that said he wants the Dodgers to be his model, he wants the Mutts to be rich in prospects, rich in big league talent and rich in salary.
Because one tainted World Series in 35 years is a great model!
