Whelp. Whipped by a terrible team. It happens to everyone at some point or two, but doesn't make it any less frustrating when it happens

It appears the only thing in question today is whether the Braves can keep their HR streak alive.

Who's gonna start Tuesday now? I was thinking Soroka before he came in relief today.

Riley is completely lost at the plate! Swings at ball 4 again. Yep. He's lost but I don't know if that was ball 4. He can't hit anything high, low or mid-zone if it's on the outside edge and the pitchers know that. He needs to learn to hit that pitch and take it to right. Even pitches which should be his pitches he can't hit those either. As you say....he's lost.

Well that'll turn my TV off for a bit. Dunno what they saw in him to bring him back. He was even worse after he was traded to Texas. I think he was a throw in to get rid of Odorizzi. Not gonna get much for that, especially at his salary, which I think we paid most of too. Yes, this was one of the wort moves AA has ever made. Will Smith's contract was up after 2022 so we would have been out from under that, but he traded Smith for Odorizzi at the deadline in 2022. Odorizzi was really bad for us, then he had an option that he picked up for $12.5M so we were on the hook for that. So we traded him for Allard and we picked up $10M of that $12.5 Odorizzi gets this year. Total screw up.

The last two series we've lost have been to the A's and White Sox now.
Riley is also doing something he struggled with early in his career--it almost looks like he's sitting on the curve ball, and chasing it all over the place when he gets it, because he's late on every fastball. He's flailing at terrible breaking balls and way behind on the fastball. Other than that......

Soroka had shown some flashes but he's giving up a lot of hits and the penchant for giving up the long ball is disturbing.

I think everyone knew the odds of Soroka reaching his pre-injury ceiling was likely toast, but right now he either looks just rusty from not pitching in MLB for 3 years, or he's fallen to a point he's not viable in any capacity. He still can't get his sinker down, which is absolutely crucial to him succeeding or not succeeding.
