Hilliard has had 5 ABs since May 5th, NONE since May 23rd, he's become a token pinch runner, then they send him on a play he's going to be out by 15 feet, then he has a train wreck with the catcher. If he retired tonight I wouldn't blame him.

It shows how much natural talent we have. Usually we overcome our opponent, Snitker, and our stupidity.
Not tonight.

I like being aggressive... but sending Hilliard there has about a 10% chance of success.
I don't hate Yates, but he is horrible at controlling runners and Cleveland had shown all night long they were running.

Tbh, I don't think anybody is proficient at holding runners anymore...especially relievers. Fried is good. And Pettitte was great...Glavine. It's a lost art. Sorta like small ball.

Yates is a ticking time bomb that has the real potential to cost us in the playoffs. Especially when he’s paired with McHugh, which happens every other day. We lead by a run or two in the 5th or 6th and here comes McHugh then Yates. They both have high WHIPS and high BAA so they both always have runners on. Yates control has gotten better but he still doesn’t know where the ball is going. He went from 8 walks per 9 innings to a guy who has been effectively wild the last 5 weeks or so. He made a couple of terrible pitches last night at exactly the wrong times, both times after he just gave runners 2nd base. One was on a pitchout with a perfect pitch for d’Arnaud to throw on and he still couldn’t get the runner because Yates allowed him to get such a big jump. It’s like Yates is slow to the plate so he makes it worse by saying ah hell with it.

Yeah but there are those much worse than others. Yates doesn't really vary his approach by holding the ball, he rarely glances over more than once, and his delivery is slow. Cleveland has been running all series and that should come into the reliever decision in a close game.
