From MLB trade rumors 5:26when will the Braves move Minter to the closing role after Vizcaino blew another one? Jason Martinez 5:28 It would probably take at least 2 more blown saves in the next month before the Braves consider a change. Ideally, they'd have another lefty to plug into Minter's role before giving him a chance to close. Could be Jesse Biddle (remember him?). He's off to a good start in AAA (3.2 IP, 0 R, 6 K)

I don't recall hearing anything about him before the season started. Although he has left the bases loaded twice already this year, lol!

I think Viz has good stuff - just not the mentality it takes to be an effective closer. I'd be fine with him pitching the 7th or 8th.
Minter seems to have the stuff and mental makeup to be a dominant closer. Hopefully the Braves don't wait too long to make the change.

Had some appointments yesterday but saw the last part of the game. Glad the Braves could pull it out. Agree with most of the Viz comments. Maybe the 7th/8th would suit him better. Haven't seen enough of Minter but he seems to walk a lot of guys too.

Viz just makes mistakes that are in the kill zone. All pitchers make mistake pitches but the good ones don’t make them over the heart of the plate as often as he does.

Opposing hitters are only hitting .220 against him in his career. They hit .199 last year and are only hitting .190 this year. But he's walked 78 batters in his career in 157 innings. I think his walks get him in more trouble than anything.

Same animal in a way... the wildness leads to too many walks and also mistakes that are over the plate.
More control would of course mean less walks, but also pitches like the HR he gave up would have been on the edge of the zone instead of over the plate.
