Baseball columnist Phil Mushnick slammed MLB analyst John Smoltz for his apparently inept commentary skills and suggested that he and other analysts are making the game intolerable.According to Mushnick, Saturday’s game between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers was ruined owing to John Smoltz’s poor commentary.Former Major League Baseball pitcher Smoltz has been associated with Fox’s telecast since 2014.He has a habit of dissecting every pitch and giving his viewers long lectures. Despite being one of the leading analysts for Fox, Smoltz sometimes lacks when it comes to baseball analytics.John Smoltz's journey as a pitcher in MLBSmoltz played in MLB from 1988 to 2009, serving 21 of his 22 seasons with the Atlanta Braves. He was an eight-time All-Star. I think Smoltz over does it at times, but he's not intolerable by any means in my opinion.
Mushnick is a lifetime New Yorker and NY sports journalist, so the fact his feeling are that strong about a former Brave who played a big role in well over a decade of Braves dominance is not surprising.

I loved him as a player but I can’t listen to him as an announcer. And that guy nailed exactly why. Over analyzing every little in long lecturing rants acting like the viewers are watching their first game. It happens all over but he’s the worst. Since Moylan was on last night I tried to watch the Tigers feed and that lasted about 10 minutes, it sounded like three guys had just done a huge pile of cocaine.

We can only hope the GM does what is best for the team. I don't think he ever sits around on his hands not thinking about what it is we need to do and what it is we can do.

***WEATHER UPDATE*** METMAN WEATHER SERVICES℠ 13 Jun 2023 4:15 PM EDT Detroit Metro Area BRAVES GAME FORECAST (6:40 PM EDT) Game Time Forecast: Mostly cloudy with intermittent showers and a thunderstorm possible. Thunderstorms, if present, are more likely to occur before 8 PM. Shower and thunderstorm activity should gradually dissipate after sunset. Temps in the low to mid 60's. Winds SW 5-10 MPH G17. Max Gust 22 MPH. Precipitation generally expected to be less than 0.1" except for localized areas of heavier convective activity. Summary: Complex weather pattern with upper level low and and cold air aloft creates instability, however, if surface temperatures remain cool and solar insolation remains low that would somewhat dampen the affects for any severe weather. Despite the upper level instability, other severe weather parameters are marginal at best so no widespread severe weather just maybe a few localized areas with small hail. Most of that activity should be prior to game time. For game time just scattered showers and a few areas of convective activity possible in the area that should wane as we approach sunset and beyond, as should the scattered shower activity, albeit more gradually. I see a cloudy, relatively cool evening with a few intermittent showers, however, a heavier shower or two is possible during the game time period. Let's hope if there are any they miss the ballpark.

Ozuna says the ball caught more muscle than bone when he was hit. Says grip strength today is better. Whereas yesterday and last night he said his hand felt heavy and couldn't really grip.
So as crazy as this would have sounded a few weeks ago, that's a potential big loss to the IL avoided

Any idea of new start time? not yet. Radar still looks iffy and no announcement has come from the Tigers.

Radar showing this convective are moving out now A few convective type showers rotating around the upper level low managed to just reach far enough south to affect the ballpark. One batch between 4 and 5 and now this one. That should be the extent of the heavier precipitation this evening as we lose daytime heating barring a small isolated cell over the next hour. Still a bit of development upstream but that should die down as we move later into the evening. Maybe some light residual showers for the next several hours but should be OK once they get started. Probably not until about 7:45 would be my estimate. -PA
