Mark Bowman@mlbbowman · 3h The Braves have told Kelenic he will platoon with Duvall (Kelenic blew his chance for full time LFer) Kelenic has a .553 career OPS against LHP, so this is no surprise and something that should have been considered.
Sargent Poopy Pants didn't want Rosario batting against lefties with his career .700 OPS against them but he was going to be ok with Kelenic batting against lefties?
lol........

It kinda pisses me off that their going to stick Kelenic out there regardless of how he performs, hoping they'll see another miracle turn around like Ozuna. But guys like Forrest Wall or Eli White who had great springs won't even be given a look. I thought you were supposed to earn your playing time.

Aaron Judge didn’t have his breakout rookie campaign until 25. His AAA numbers at 24 weren’t exactly earth-shaking. Also, Duvall is cheap insurance in case Acuna needs to rest his knee periodically.

It's been a few years since he could say that.

Thought of the day:
If you were going to pay $15.75M for 2024 just to have the left handed bat for a left field platoon would you choose a guy who has a career .699 OPS against right handed pitchers?

well they can't blame me! I said all along to just pay Rosy and be done with it. Kelenic and Sale could both work out, AA has had the Midas touch, but they were both high risk possible high reward desperation moves that teams like the Faillies and Mutts always make and then we laugh when they fail. And we didn’t need to make any desperation moves. AA has been really smart with the money until this off-season. It makes me wonder if he didn’t feel a sense of panic after we lost in the playoffs to the Faillies again. Really all we needed was to strengthen the bullpen and add two good #3 or #4 starters, which we could have easily done with the money he’s spent. As nice as it would be to see Sale pitch like his old self and stay healthy it’s almost a pipe dream…..with a lot of money on the line that could have been used more wisely. Duvall isn’t a bad move in and of itself, it’s kind of a blah move that’s already a concession to the Kelenic experiment we’re spending so much money on this year. Oh well, all we can do is hope for some magic. It’s not like LF is going to cost us playoff wise, but if Sale doesn’t cut it or is hurt then starting pitching could cripple us. It would have been nice/wise to have been smarter with focusing on shoring up the starting pitching. In my mind Morton is a big question mark. I get that he’s good and an inning eater, but can we count on that at his age? His playoff injuries have been an issue and it has to be a regular season concern now. I don’t think he was worth &20M again, he’s something like the 26th highest paid starter in baseball now. The biggest hurt we’re going to see though is the loss of Ron Washington.

[br I think AA is hoping Sale stays healthy enough to be a serviceable #4 and then it's musical chairs again for the 5 spot between Lopez,Elder, Smith-Shawver, maybe even Waldrep. The key is getting through the season without major injury or wearing out the top three. If not I could easily see AA going out and trying to get somebody at the deadline. And I could not agree with you more... losing Washington is going to be the hardest thing the Braves face this season.

We’re going to find out the hard way that Ron Washington was the real motivational leader of the team. We’re certainly not paying Sale like a #4 starter. If that was the thinking why didn’t we just get a #4 starter who wasn’t nearly such a gamble?

Grant McAuley @grantmcauley · 4h Adam Duvall was not part of the #Braves' plans when Spring Training began last month, but his arrival is a net positive for the team in so many ways – and not at all indicative of doubts about Jarred Kelenic's spring.

If you're willing to invest $15.75M in a LFer for 2024 and say outright he's the LFer, and then a month into spring training, when you're baseball player guy LFer is hitting .080 you suddenly add a right handed bat, it's all about concern over Kelenic now.
