For me, it has to be the emergence of Austin Riley, not only as a threat, but as a legitimate MVP candidate. The question is whether or not this is what he is going forward, or is it a career year?

The trade deadline and the 16-2 run in August. That is what made our year
I think Riley is for real, he might not do this every yr but if he can be 80 percent of the player he has been this yr for the next 12 to 15 yrs, that is one hell of a career, HOF candidacy for sure.
Of course the key ingredient is staying healthy
15 more yrs left is no exaggeration given how young he is

Yeah, the flurry of trades at the deadline was big also. No doubt about it.

Yet to be seen until that final out of the World Series lands in Heredia’s glove … 😀

For me it just about has to be overcoming the loss of our entire starting outfield. Heredia filling in admirably until the trades were made.

After RA went down, AA saved the season at the deadline. Instead of selling, he chose to be a buyer.
He bought the right guys to help get us the Eastern Division Championship.

One story to mention is how our starting pitching for the most part has been quite good
We have 3 I think can be trusted in Charlie, Max and Ian Anderson has come on quite nicely - had he not been injured he would have been in that 12 to 14 win range. Like to see what he can do in a full healthy season
And Fried is at a point you might be able to call him a legit ACE now.

Not really close to a story of the year. I expected our starting pitching to be pretty solid with those 3 being real solid.
