Tomorrow starts with the suspended game bottom of the 5th, nobody out, trailing 5-4 with Freeman due at the plate if I recall correctly.

Frikkin pansies when they get behind. They flat out quit that one. Why do you say that? This loss is squarely on the bullpen.

Pitt has a 5-0 lead over Philly. So there's that at least.

You're not wrong about the offense, but this loss isn't largely on the pen, it's totally on the pen. A 3-run lead in the 7th should be enough, even more so when you're playing a bad team. The Braves could/should have a 6-1 road trip going, but it's 4-3, and it's squarely the pen's fault. The offense has overcome major obstacles to give the Braves a chance, but the bullpen might just be the one obstacle they can't overcome.

Webb had been money until today, Matzek probably would have been better suited to come in that spot though. Disappointing either way.

philly has scored 3 in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit to 6-3, and still batting.

The biggest reason why this team cannot make life easy for itself is the pen. Too many times that one guy has a bad game.
This time it was Webb, for the most part he has shown potential but did not get the job done today
And how many times has Smith given it up with a HR. This pen has made at least a 5 game difference in the bad direction. Just a mediocre pen and this division would be just about wrapped up by now.
For the most part the SP and the rest of the team has been quite good. Struggled at catcher for a while during D Arnaud's injury and the OF could be shaky but that got corrected at the deadline. Injuries have killed us, but still not in a bad position in spite the injuries to Acuna and the shaky pen
Oh yes, and the thing with that unmentionable player that got us in a bind. Not excuses but legit reasons.
And there are guys in that pen who have stuff, but as a unit could just not put it together

It's why there's no hope for winning anything in the playoffs if we do make it. The pen sucks all the joy out of being a fan.

Brewers are beatable with the team we have, but it's got to be managed right, ESPECIALLY the pen.

I'd have sent Morton out for the 7th, but at the same time I understand why we didn't. I thought Rodriguez was better than he is, but he can't be trusted any more than the rest of these guys. The pen is just weak. There's not much else to say.

Pitt has a 5-0 lead over Philly. So there's that at least. It's 8-6 failies now. Pirates are doing what bad teams do. That's why I say the schedule is screwed up. Games should be within the divisions this late in the year as much as possible and the Braves sure as hell shouldn't be on a 10 game west coast trip.

And this is why despite winning the series, a loss like today is quite a blow.
