That's ridiculous. I would have thought Freddie had better sense than that. Besides, first base is the easiest position on the field. He'd probably feel differently if he were a shortstop or center fielder. It's a big reason why we fail in the playoffs, IMO. Last year we did better after the 60 game season. I don't think that's a coincidence. Freddie isn't the manager. He and I would butt heads over him giving guys grief for not being out there a day here and there, I'll tell you that. There are 26 guys on a team. The backups aren't there to serve as Freddie's cheerleaders.
Well I wouldn't start a war with Freddie. I would let him encourage everyone to play every day because that's the mentality I want from my players, but then I would give players rest anyway. I don't blame anything here on Freeman. If anything, I blame management for not managing.

Oh, I agree with that being the right mentality, and you're right about butting heads with Freeman. I don't think it would ever come to that with him, but if it did I wouldn't back down. You need every guy on the roster to be able to deliver when called upon. The way the Braves go about it doesn't exactly maximize chances of them being successful.
Without a doubt, the world's most knowledgeable baseball fan........and one of the most modest as well.

Joc Peterson should be playing AND LEADING OFF!
“Here's the pitch by Downing. Swinging. There's a drive into left-center field. That ball is going to be out of here! IT'S GONE! IT'S 715! There's a new home run champion of all-time! And it's Henry Aaron!"
