When he's hitting, he's a good player. He's a much better athlete than you realize. Good outfielder and can run, too.

That plus him being in LF means Ozuna is at DH where he belongs. Win win.

He'll be 32 in September, so maybe he's matured into a better hitter than he has been in the past. Who knows? He's played well for us this year is all I know, and he's a much better outfielder/athlete than I realized.

Erlin is the man for today
As for Duvall, got to like this guy for anything its the way he handled his assignment to AAA last yr all he did was work hard and make it back to the big club and never complained
And he did have two real good production yrs in Cincinnati, he helped some down the stretch last yr and is helping this yr - good man

I like Duvall but he was swinging at the changeups today like they were a wiffle-ball.

You gotta remember that if you can get a .250 average and a 25/30% K rate out of Duvall that you're doing really well.

You gotta remember that if you can get a .250 average and a 25/30% K rate out of Duvall that you're doing really well. He's a career .233 hitter with a career OBP of .293. I don't usually look much at those two stats anymore the way the modern game is played, but it does explain why he hasn't had a better career. Right now he's hitting .245 with a .281 OBP for this season. His caeer OPS is .755. and it's actually .752 for this year. So we're pretty much seeing the exact player he is.....and with his speed and defense I'm fine with his offense because he will pop some big home runs, he's a good role player.

I'd like to see the game shift away from the "batting average and strikeouts don't matter" approach that we see now, because they DO matter. I like the long ball as much as the next guy, but I also like action, meaning hitters making contact, moving runners over, and guys stealing bases. Now it's all walks, homers, and strikeouts. It's the biggest thing that's slowed the game down. IMO

But unless you're going to go to a lineup of guys who make contact and get on base and then actually run, you have to rely on HR's now. My biggest problem with the whole Nick and Ender thing has always been that you can't have TWO guys in your OF in the modern game who hit that few number of home runs. I might feel differently if we didn't have a bunch of high strikeout guys, but we do, and we don't steal much.

Dansby Duvall or Adam Swanson. Take your pick.

You need a mix. Always have. Now it's all about homers, though.

Dansby and Ynoa. Those 3 innings from Ynoa were crucial
